anyone seen this documentary? its the story of a four year old girl that was making some amazing paintings, or was she?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0912592/

i highly recommend it, its put together well and has a good flow, if you can tolerate any documentaries you will probably like this one.

it always amazes me how people can look at the same things and come to wildly different conclusions, for the life of me i dont know how anyone cannot see that this is a scam by the father.

i havent done much research into it but i wonder if any experts have examined the paintings first hand, im a casual painter/painting fan and it seems glaringly obvious to me that there are techniques used in the "unconfirmed" paintings that she shows no signs of ever being able to do when she is on camera, nothing even remotely close.

I saw that on Netflix this weekend and thought about adding it to my queue, but I've gotten some other documentaries in the past that I didn't really care for. Like this thing about parrots on Telegraph Hill or something in San Francisco, which is more of a biopic about an aging hippie who does nothing but sponge off people and feed wild parrots.

But I digress. I'll go back and add it to my queue.

I thought the same thing when I heard about this painting thing, though, that it looked awfully unlikely. I'm not a big fan of abstract art, but even abstract painting requires technique that very small children aren't likely to grasp just yet. Does a little kid like that even have the motor skills for that type of work yet? Anybody who's seen the average four year old's effort at writing their name might question this.

That said, I don't have any kids myself and maybe I just don't really understand child mental and motor development.
