I went to college in NYC starting in 1989 and I must have gone to hundreds of shows at the legendary Wetlands Preserve. A documentary about it was recently released. I have heard of this film a couple years ago and I am soooo glad that it is seeing the light of day. If you have ever been to the Wetlands this is a must see. Classic footage from all the bands you remember...Phish, The Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, 2 Skinnee Jays, Cypress Hill, Joan Osborne, Agnostic Front, Ani DiFranco, Sublime, and I am only 40 minutes into it.

Ready for waves of nostalgia? See this.

I went there once to see a friend's band. I was less than impressed.

It looked like every dive place I'd ever been in.

I have this coming through Netflix. The Wetlands was awesome. Especially the lounge downstairs where you could just get lost in the dark, sinking into some couch with a beer and a smoke listening to great music.

Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Gov't Mule, Ratdog, Fishbone, Yolk, Trey Anastasio... even The Soft Parade... I saw tons of shows there myself. It was the last great dive bar you could see great and new music. I was very upset when it closed. Looking forward to the film.

I loved that place. The last time I was there was during CMJ in 98 and we saw Vanilla Ice's hardcore band which was hysterical. And then I met Guru outside and talked to him for about 10 minutes. Really nice guy.

I remember going to ska shows there when I was in High School. The one thing I remember was that they had a section for different wildlife causes and you could write for more information from them. My freind must have filled them all out with someone else's name and address. I wonder if those people ever herd from a Save the Rainforest organization.

I thought this was going to be a thread about wetland conservation.

Instead of keeping that to myself I've obviously decided to just point out this hilarious error that isn't all that hilarious.

I saw one of Earl's faves there... (wasn't there a VW bus in the middle of the bar or something?)

The last show I saw there was a Led Zeppelin tribute band who worked the costumes like it was 1975.

HAHAHA!!! That would be Philadelphia's own Splintered Sunlight. His name is Butch!
My favorite Dead cover band. They haven't playing in NYC in years but occasionally make it to The Stone Pony in Jersey.

Yeah, you can see that very microbus in the lobby of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. I went with my folks once and i just couldnt tell them how many brain cells i lost behind that bus :)

The best about that bus and all the save the earth junk that was available there was that is was available... if you wanted it. All the times I was there no one ever tried to push an agenda on me. No one stuck a brochure in my face. No one asked for money.

Nowadays, I see these aggressive hippie assholes who growl and claw for you to sign something or wear jungle grass. They stink.

That is true. No patchouli-smelling, white guy with dreadlocks ever bothered me there.

Saw a bunch of cool shows there over the years. I was disappointed back when I heard it closed.
