Which feature of the Ron and Fez show do you miss most?

Dan G

Comedy Pyramids

Steve Perry, Jr's "wheels in the sky keeps on turnin'" drop ever time he entered the studio.

"This is Charley" drop every time someone named Charley would call.

I remember Iris from Bayridge used to call Steve Sommers on the overnight and talk s-p-o-r-t-s all the time...What ever happened to her? I havn't heard from her since Hot Tub and Crazed drove her home from Bar 9 that night..That's so weird..

They have such a great vibe at night... and I hate having to listen to them at night on delay. Joe Poo as a producer may not have worked, but maybe have him call in frequently like Blowhard or Mike the Teacher. I'd love to know what twenty-something Jobber's up to. I remember getting a laugh at Free-FM when I opened a call with "What's goin on guys?"

Terrestrial Radio, hands down!

I really miss the Free FM listening thread.... those were some good times right there.
So considering my age now, and my need for sleep... I have to miss the evening shift of 6-9 or 7-11....

The overnights were GREAT... but those were different times. For all of us...

I did like them on twice a day, but do people REALLY miss terrestrial radio, when every 3rd caller would get dumped out of?

EVERY good radio show should avoid terrestrial radio at all costs. It is terrible.

The thing I truly miss the most is our beloved Fez firing on all eight cylinders... all my best to him, especially next week. We love ya, Fezzy, and we're pullin for you.

Second most, I guess, is the 7-11 timeslot - because it was a night show, with a night-time vibe, and brought the night-timers into the studio. And the best thing about that era is that for a very brief period of time, it was a golden lineup on radio if you lived in NYC. The day started with Howard in the morning, then Don and Mike, then O+A, then Ron and Fez, and then Farrell. There weren't enough hours in the day to listen to everything...

Just because one can now hear "everything" doesn't actually mean that all of it is good.

And that's not anything on the boys...that's referring to the callers who got dumped on free radio who are now the winners who call up just to swear as much as possibe or toss out slurs and hateful shit and contribute absolutely nothing to radio and life.

terrestrial radio, so i too can enjoy them.

my favorite time was when it was ronandfez.com, the 11p-3a slot.
the soft music in the back ground, the 30 seconds or so of dead air between thoughts.

that, my friends, was a great time in show history.

I think Iris was the greatest. About a year ago I found a bunch of old Iris bits (Thanks to Mikeyboy) and I downloaded them all. I can listen to them over and over. The comedy pyramids should have also been on the list. I loved getting in on those back in the day.

I think a big reason Fez goes into the background is not so much because of his mental state, but because he is not comfortable doing a talk show, which radio has mostly become. He really has little input when they fall in to a straight talk format, especially if they get on topics he's not interested in. He beats himself up for not having an opinion on such subjects, but he really shouldn't. He is a performer. Even now, if they do a theme show (Don The Hypnotist, Earl & Dave boxing etc...) or big event (Big Ass Brawl, Dave's wedding) Fez shines. No matter what's going on in his head he always steps up when it's time to really perform. His mind doesn't seem focused on the show when it becomes more of a talk style unless the topic is something he is interested in (comics, politics, celeb gossip). That's what makes Ronny such a great radio host. He can go with the stupid bit when it comes up. He can also do an interview as well as anybody, even when the subject doesn't interest him. He is also able to carry on a discussion no matter what the topic. I know Ronny would love for Fez to pop in a Fezitorial, a "Nature Boy" or a Catty Moment once in a while. Hopefully this week will help him get back on the road to doing more of those things again.

Sorry I kinda went off-topic but I thought it was somehow pertinent... However, I could be wrong.:flush:
