I was looking at my hand today and i was thinking how weird it looks cause i dont think i need my pinky maby i dindt think this out but i never use my pinky besides with a guirtar so do u think we wont have pinkys in the furter

Youd be surprised how hard it is to do certain things without your pinky. Writing becomes more difficult as does other remedial tasks like holding things. thats why after I lost my pinky I got this prosthetic one put on. Well that and it just looked creepy.

It depends on your definiton of "need." We certainly don't need it to survive or function. However it does help perform some tasks so it is certainly a useful apendage.

I saw an article in Bizarre magazine a few months back about new, extreme "body modification" rituals. One of them was being performed in the California area, where guys would literally cut off their pinkies, yakuza-style, as a sort of fashion statement.

That trumps getting a tattoo or piercings, I guess.
