PCU was a pretty lame flick. But at one point everyone's hanging out in the basement of "The Pit" and this song plays in boom box. It's some teenage boy ranting: "And I try like real hard and things don't work out ok...my parent ask what's work and I say I try like real hard and things don't work out."

What the title of this tune.

No dude..that's the first thing I treated looking my the song track listings. The song was playing on a boom box for just a few seconds. I vaguely remember MTV even playing a music video of it.

It's more of a rant than a song...words are something like: "I come home from school and my parents ask what's wrong. And I say I try really hard and things don't work out ok."

It's also used to great effect in Iron Man!

What are you tryin' to say- I'M CRAZY?
When I went to YOUR SCHOOLS?
I went to YOUR CHURCHES?
I went to YOUR INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING FACILITIES?!?!

I still love that record, despite the Summer the tape was stuck in my car's tape deck, backed with The Damned's Machine Gun Etiquette.

Hey kids! People used to have tape decks IN THEIR CARS!

Mikey is definitely right.

And who the hell doesn't like PCU? It's not some great film, but it's amusing as hell, especially that Piven looks older back then than he does now.

Tonight, on RONFEZ.NET....Everyone Gets Laid......

For me its one of the 5 quintessential 90's movies.

Along with Reality Bites, Singles, Kicking and Screaming and Clueless.

And I think I made a grave error not putting Clerks in the top 5 quintessential 90's movies. That discussion may need its own thread.

the scene when jeremy piven's character has a flashback to his freshman year when he shared a room with david spade's character was priceless. one of the best 5 second scenes in the history of comedy, probably second only to the dumb and dumber scene in the ski lodge with all the people in sweaters laughing at jokes.
