Bad Memory

What does it mean if you have a bad memory? Like a really really bad one. It's not like repression because it's not just forgetting about stuff that happened in your past (which is true too) but it like constantly is added to, talking to people and forgetting their name, running into the same person the same day and forgetting you ran into them earlier.

Good question. I have a horrible memory also. Unless I meet someone multiple times, I will never remember their name. I also sometimes forget conversations.

Stress has A LOT to do with it
(hmmm, aren't finals coming
up?). I know my memory gets
really fuzzy (even more than
my "butt") when I'm overworked
and I have a lot of stuff
going on in my life. There's
only so much mental energy we
have at a given time and
stress is an energy vampire.
It's your
brain's way of weeding out the
"necessary" from the "not
necessary."

But that's just my guess.

See a nuerologist to eliminate any scary but unlikely possibilities.

The possible causes are many. You may choose to have your memory tested to gain a better picture as to whether or how your memory is deficient

I'm fortunate enough to have a semi-photographic memory.

It's pretty sweet. I can remember someone I met briefly YEARS ago, just by seeing their face again.

But I kind of suck with names.

Anyways I have the same problem, but I know that mine is directly connected to my former pot smoking habbit. I 've stopped smoking, but my ability to remember is long gone.

I suggest ginko biloba or st john's wort if you're ok after the neurologist takes a peek at ya.

I'd say it's related to the pot but it started well before is started doing pot and I don't do more pot.

I only smoked pot 5 times, so I really can't blame that. I have been like this for many years, even before I started drinking, so I have no idea what is wrong.

Perfect example. I remember the whole ride home, just not the conversation. But that case may have been alcohol induced:)

You know your memory is shot when you start having what I refer to as the "brain fart"

Where in the middle of a thought/conversation/sentence you completely forget what you were just saying and you stop talking completely. I have those quite a bit and i never had them before.
Thats when i knew i was over the memory loss threshold

My memory is awful. I can remember stupid things...like anything having to do with mumbers but I forget conversations, I can never remember movies unless I see them several times. I have virtually no recollection of my childhood...and I can barely remember last year lol

i lose my keys all the time. so now, i just leave em in the ignition. but then sometimes i forget where i park. even called the police once because i thought my car was stolen from the mall.

i have the worst memory. i'd blame it on the pot, but it was bad before i started smoking. I lose everything, keys, glasses, papers....i'd lose my head if it weren't attached to my body. i had more to say, but i can't remember...
