I'm heading to St. Pete this weekend. Going to a Rays game Saturday night, but other than that, I have no plans. Anybody have any suggestions?

I haven't been down there in ten years but there was a bar called Woody's that was pretty good. I also remember a restaurant called Sea Critters in Pass A Grille that was great.

Maybe 10 years ago but don't go now unless you have a flack-jacket, knife and a solid command of self-defense skills. AVOID YBOR - its a dump.

If your in St. Petersburg, go South on 275, until you get to the PINELLAS BAYWAY exit, and follow the brown signs that will lead you to America's most beautiful beach (2005, 2008 respectively). Fort Desoto State Park rules. I've said it countless times on this board and I'll say it again. Fort Desoto is a perfect place to spend the time.
Enjoy...

I'mma tell you somethin...

Yech, maybe while you're there you can look up the most annoying sales rep in the world... he says "Y'know" at least 8 times per sentence. It makes me want to kill.

I live in Tampa and work in St. Pete somedays. Gameday, there is a pretty good sports bar called Ferg's next to the stadium. For something with more character, there is an AWESOME bar on Central Ave in downtown (a few blocks walk) called The Emerald Bar. Its a dark little old dungeon with great locals, and and a terrific jukebox. Within walking distance in downtown, in the same general area as Emerald, there are some good little independently owned restaraunts. The food at the Trop isn't bad at all, but if you're down here might as help the economy in the most direct way (plus its cheaper).
Not sure where you are staying, but you should certainly head out to the beach one evening and eat at one of the coastal restaurants. The seafood is always fresh, and more than a few are right on the beach, so if you time it right you get a sunset on the water to go along with your grouper, or whatever (plus some other impressive, em, scenery). The locals are usually more than happy to point you towards a place that might suit you.
As some others have said, the Dali Museum is great, and for beaches, Fort Desoto is my favorite, but Indian Rocks, Madeira, Treasure Island, hell most of them have there charms. If you do happen to go to Desoto, though remember to bring anything you might need cause you aint gonna find much more than a couple of concession stands in the park.
Clearwater beach is the more touristy area. I tend to avoid it, but to each their own. Its a hell of a lot more crowded there, you're more likely to run into drunk and rowdy high school and college kids, not to mention discount bathing suit stores, hideous strip malls, etc. The Saint Pete beaches maintain somewhat of a sense of a real Florida beach community.

Scenery of the young, fit, tan bikinied variety. I'm sure you're familiar, but it always seems to add something to a nice meal. There is also a great place called the Undertow Beach Bar on the beach in St Pete. It can get busy but It's a hell of a lot of fun. Look it up online if you get the chance.

X2 on Ferg's for pre/postgame.

If you like strip clubs, Tampa has some of the best in the country. Mons Venus and 2001.

There's always the beach.

Take a ferry over to Caladesi Island- it is beautiful- long deserted beach, beautiful water.

We (me, wife & kids) chartered a sailboat out of St. Pete and put in for a night at the marina there- it was beautiful. The ferry's stopped running at some point in the evening and we ended up getting the enire Island all to ourself.
