I'm looking forward to next week's ER with Steve Buscemi....of course Scrubs id now TV history (though.... hold the presses....ABC?) ...every season of Survivor is like a series finale....and on and on...but for me it is ER which has been around for most of us most of our lives.....
anyway...it's that time of year before we descend into nonstop Reality TV hell....

Scrubs will be on ABC at some point with 18 more episodes for a final season. They began filming them at least a month ago.

I don't think I've seen a new episode of ER in at least 3 years. No one will ever beat the final MASH. At least, not in ratings.

You could have the worst taste in television ever.

wow...this weeks TV Guide was somewhat non-commital about the ABC/Scrubs rumor....
and I'm guessing MASH is in bad taste....it's not me that's saying it...I'm just looking for a clarification....

Braff and McGinley have both publically stated that they're working on a final batch of 18 episodes. What hasn't been clarified is when exactly they will air.

I brought up MASH, because of the whole "series finale" thing. I was into the hype when it aired, but it really was a terrible finale. It's totally unwatchable now. I do credit it for being what shows like ER are looking for, when they plan a finale. The popularity of the MASH finale set the bar so high, it will probably never be knocked off of the top record spot for ratings. Then again, it's unfair to compare it to modern times, since there were only three networks when it aired.

There should be a poll for worst/best series finales of all times. Start with MASH, Seinfeld, and Sopranos.

as a matter of fact I also watched the Seinfield finale recently....didn't hate it.

The Sopranos one, is one that seems to be getting better with age. After the initial 'what the fuck' knee jerk reaction, people have warmed to it tremendously.

I think it's hard to find someone who hates it now, as much as people claimed they did when it initially aired.

Seinfeld is a weird one. I think it's generally harder to do finales for comedies then it is dramas, but I think, by not taking itself seriously (for instance, the Jerry/Elaine fake tease when the plane is going down is a direct shot at people who are expecting some happy, tie up the loose ends ending), it makes it work.

Because they stay true to the spirit of the show, instead of trying to wrap everything up in a nice little package, I think it works.

Plus, the whole loop to them having the same conversation at the very end of the finale as they did at the beginning of the pilot was a nice touch.

I've found the later seasons as a whole are aging much better. The first one, on the hand, feels like I'm watching a cartoon.

I think the office has been in a bit of a rut this season, still funny but not moving plots along and Michael was just too mean.

But last night was brilliant, one of the American series best. Felt horrible for Michael, Jim, Pam, and Dwight for a few minutes til he re-tapped that Angela ass.

In my opinion, nothing will ever beat the Extras series finale. Just the perfect mix of touching sentiment and hilarity, and it was poignant. The speech Andy gave on Big Brother was nothing short of brilliant.

Season ending "cliffhangers" are getting really tiresome. Every drama on TV ends with one. Now I have to make sure I watch the season ending show when it's repeated just before next season's premier, or I won't remember what was going on.:furious:

Oz always had good finales, with my favorite being season 2's. You had a child molester get crucified, Nazi's get crushed in a botched escape, Operation Toby coming to an end and Kareem Said with an epic face job to the Governor.
