This is somethin that strikes me every so often when listening to music.

You always hear about these enormous songs by Yes, Genesis, Rush, The Dead etc., people (rightfully) complain about, but what about the opposite? Is there a song you think stops short, for whatever reason?

Hendrix's (not Dylan's or anyone else's) All Along the Watchtower is one of those songs I sometimes wish never ended.

I'll go with "#13 Baby" by the Pixies. The band locks into a tight groove, and Joey Santiago's hitting some tasty guitar runs, and it fades out after about a minute or so. I'd love to have at least a few minutes more.

Any song that plays while my wife agrees to give me head for "2 songs".

None.

In fact, I thing most songs are way too long. Two and a half to 3 and a half minutes is the perfect length for a song and anything more is just overindulgence.

Same with movies. If you can't get the point across in 90 minutes, go back and try again.

Freebird could stand to be 37 minutes longer.

agreed! although i'd go with a 5 minute max. any of the 6+ minute songs (i'm looking at you, stairway to heaven) just comes off a bit pretentious, imho.

also, i don't like songs that trail off and fade out at the end. come up with a damn ending to your song! how would you feel if you were watching a movie and towards the end, the screen just started to slowly go black and the audio faded out???

Even though it's a long song already, anytime I hear American Pie by Don McLean, I don't want it to stop.

Don't you DARE knock "Goin' Home" or "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"!

Oooh, that's a good one. I think "The Happening" fades out kind of abruptly too.

just about every song now is under 4minutes, it seems that these shitty bands have no ability to make a solid 5 minute song anymore.
