Halfway through the podcast (I listen on Mondays on my 1 hour drive to work and then 1 hour drive home from work).

So, ok. I wasn't expecting an entire segment devoted to my feedback. I felt I needed to respond because I wanted to make a couple of things clear. I don't want anyone to think I responded last week because I was "offended." It takes an awful lot to offend me, and simply making fun of "retards" or something like that isn't going to do it. I responded because I felt the position of a parent of children like this was a bit misrepresented. There seemed to be some feeling that "aww these guys could've just aborted the pregnancy and not gone through this" so I almost felt like I was being blamed a bit. I tried to clarify that it isn't that simple: our pregnancy was exceedingly normal. That was really my main point (and to make clear that I'm happy to provide background on what it is really like if anyone is interested). My sister and I used to do a funny bit to make people laugh where we pretended to be students at the "sunshine school" and were learning to sharpen pencils. I'm fully aware of the comedy potential there. It definitely seems different to me, now, and I'd never consider doing that bit again, of course. But it would be exceptionally hypocritical of me to pretend there is no comedy there. Of course, there is. I'm glad you didn't back down on that point.

As for me being one of the old-school guys, yeah. I have listened to every podcast. I remember clearly CT posting a link to it on FOFC and asking for feedback. I downloaded the first episode and listened while mowing my lawn. It was "suprisingly entertaining" (yeah, I actually thought almost those exact words--I wasn't expecting it to be--didn't know CT at all at the time).

Never really came close to getting off-board with the show. CT did ask for feedback, anything that could help with content on the show, though. What CT remembers me complaining about from way earlier is Jiving screaming "RELIGION SUCKS" or something similar in one of the earlier shows. I commented that that probably would alienate a good 50% of your potential listeners (CT primarily seemed concerned with increasing listeners, so I was trying to be constructive with my comment). I was never "offended" by it.

There have been many segments that have made me distinctly uncomfortable. Anything where you guys started describing extremely painful things, anything involving licking a butthole, those kinds of things. I wonder how dangerous it is to drive while squirming wildly, sometimes. I steadfastly refuse to listen to the show in the company of my wife, hahaha. But, never have I been offended.

I wouldn't want you to censor your opinions. It would be amazing if anyone out there agreed with everything you say. Keep being honest.

I just wanted to make sure you guys know I love the show and will continue to love it as long as you guys keep being yourselves.

Platypi
- males have venom spurs that are so painful that it can incapacitate a man
- have electroreception (they locate their prey in part by detecting electric fields generated by muscular contraction)
- they are excellent swimmers
- they lay eggs
- females have two ovaries, but only the left one is functional
- females give their young milk, but they have no teats and instead milk is released through skin and collects in pools on their abdomen
- they have ten sex chromosomes instead of two (XY) for most mammals
- they suffer from few diseases
- a platypus nursury is called a platypussary

Hey a big mention of me in the show today!

I am a proud member of F.O.P. (Friends of the Platypi)

For the record, Platypi appear totally normal to each other and no doubt they would think us as a 'god damn crazy species'. Totally normal pregnancy, nothing unusual at all except the fact that the females have only one working ovary and no teats, but hey who is to judge? Sometimes I wish I could excrete milk through my pores, that would certainly eliminate my dry and flaky skin. Also please don't refer to them as 'dumpsters who would eat anything'. For the record annelid worms and insect larvae, freshwater shrimps, and yabbies are very nutritious and besides I'm sure that a Platypus wouldn't bore it's listeners by discussing cereal for 20 minutes every podcast like you two.

I think your opinion about this subject would change if you'd gone through what they have for the last 200 years. We have almost ended their existence with our dams, fishing, erosion of habitat, and the addition of the wily red fox. It has been challenging, no doubt, but it isn't all that bad. I won't bore you with all of this, but if you want to know how or why or what's it like or any of that, I will be happy to answer you from actual experience of platypus researchers I have read (If you think I am flying 25 hours to go to Australia to see one first hand, you are as stupid as retard). I will say a lot of the things you talked about in your segment are pretty unrealistic, but I understand where you are coming from (I thought like that at one time in my life, too). Being referred to as a taxidermists joke would hurt any species feelings.

Platypi suck. The wily Red Fox is way better, I am a F.O.T.W.R.F. (Friend of the wily red fox). We eat Platypi for dinner, then we loot their stupid looking corpses for trinkets and gall bladders to sell to Asian medicine practitioners. If they are the last of a line of genus in a branch on the evolutionary tree, I say we should hack it off and burn it. Of course I am a hunter and will kill something just for living, and because I wonder what it tastes like. This could be the new pick a side, Platypus of Wily Red Fox.

Afghan Whigs
Gentlemen (1993)
Gentlemen

Your attention, please
Now turn off the light
Your infection, please
I haven't got all night

Understand, do you understand?
Understand, I'm a gentleman

I stayed in too long
But she was the perfect fit
And we dragged it out so long this time
Started to make each other sick
But now I've got time for you
For you, you, you and me too
Well, come and get it, come and get it
'Cause I'm done

Understand, do you understand?
Understand, I'm a gentleman

I waited for the joke, it never did arrive
And words I thought I'd smoke
Let me in I'm cold
All messed up but nowhere to go
You got indecision, and indecision is my enemy
Unlock the cabinet, hey hey hey
I'll take whatever you got
Now I'm on it, now I'm on it
And you're done

I waited for the joke
It never did arrive
And words I thought I'd choke
I hardly recognize

And JustJon, you made me feel a little bit younger, I did not get that music at all, the suits remind me of a show I watched as a boy called Miami Vice, however, the song was not too shabby, and I was digging the drummer's style.

But Miami Vice was 80s and Afghan Whigs were big among the college crowd in the early to mid 90s

Live action or animation? I only heard rumor that HBO had bought the rights to the comic a few years ago, but haven't heard anything until Jivin's dropping of a vague missing junk reference.

I think we'll see more of a Val Kilmer as Elvis in True Romance, where you'll always have him just off-screen and never show his face.

How do you like dem apples, little girl?

I think starting a radio feud with a 10 yr old little girl might generate some interest for our heroes.
