OK, before the mods get all pissy - this is a serious question and post. True, marc's "american" thread inspired it. I was thinking about all the Canadians that come south of the border to make a name for themselves. My nominee is:

C'mon, who doesn't like Michael J. Fox?

I would say Wayne Gretzky. He is the "Michael Jordan of Hockey" and his popularity transcends his sport. In fact, if you ask an average person to name a famous hockey player they will most likely say Wayne Gretzky.

Alan Thicke? What is this 1985? This isn't the "name random canadians" thread. I doubt Alan Thicke is the most popular Canadian of his own mother.

Who doesn't love them some Ann of Green Gables?
But she does have a disadvantage by forcing people to pronounce it Meegan. It's like life following art as Ann always wanted to be Anne.

He went way too soon due to his coked up shrew of a wife. He was my favorite SNL cast member of all time. Phil Hartman may not be the most famous because I don't think many people know he's Canadian; but he was the best.

What's wrong with Canadian Bacon??? Steven Wright, Alan Alda, John Candy, and Rhea Pearlman...that's a pretty good cast, damnit!
One of my favorite Canadians is Alanis Morrisette. She sang O'Canada at the Stanley Cup Finals last year...that's the sign of a true Canadian.

Tub, I think that picture comes from the scene where they're hanging out in the hotel room and Denis is saying "trade me, right fucking now"... The funniest part of the scene is when he hangs up, the phone immediately rings. He answers with excitement because he thinks they are calling him back with a trade deal.
We should get together, the Mrs's Tub and Rod can make out and we can watch Slapshot (and laugh at Hanrahans wifes banana titties).
