I'm in a long term relationship, we live together etc., but he travels for work installing lazer tag arenas and other fun "blacklighty" things about a week a month on average. After the first "fun" day of doing all the things he never wants to do and sleeping in the middle of the bed, I get lonely being home alone, even with phone calls.
It's like the Simpsons episode where Marge gets a house cleaning robot, realizes she has nothing to do, and just drinks wine until dinner.<p>
I'm between jobs and school for two weeks, and home alone. What do you do with an uncomfortable amount of free time and no money?
<p>
Besides post on here like crazy.

Do you like to do crafty stuff at all? I wind up using a lot of my spare time with stuff like that. The other message board I frequent is Craftster.org (http://www.craftster.org), and even if I'm not feeling all that creative, I often spend a lot of time just looking at things other people made. And even if you don't like to do a lot of things you consider crafty, that site covers a lot of ground. It has stuff like people designing and building their own furniture and crap like that. Anyway, I might be barking up the wrong tree, but it has kept me busy plenty of times when the boyfriend was busy with his own stuff.
There is also Questionswap (http://www.questionswap.com/q/default.aspx). A couple years ago when I found that I became mildly obsessed and spent like a whole weekend playing with it.

MTA, I handmade a stuffed rabbit for my 1 yr old niece. I do really like your elephant from the other thread, btw.
So far tonight I drank a million beers, set up the tent to air it out, pulled weeds, did laundry, and fantasized about owning a closet of lingerie.
I'll try the other thing though, thank you!

When that happens to me I either go bang hookers and get drunk, or stay at home fapping to internet porn and run so many batches that my abdomen starts hurting.

Thanks for the compliment on the elephant! I originally I thought I would give him to someone but now I'm sort of just hanging on to him for the moment. I don't know if I have the heart to let him go!
You mentioned you were interested in inexpensive stuff. I'm not sure if you are the type of person where the idea of something tedious like embroidery or needlework makes you want to barf, but cross-stitch is great for something to do while sitting around and watching movies or TV, and it is time-consuming and the materials are cheap. Also, if you do something complex it looks quite impressive when you are done, and no true artistic talent is needed! All you really need is even-weave fabric, the floss (which is cheap, often like 25-30 cents a thingie), and a hoop to hold it tight. I didn't even get into cross-stitch until a couple years ago, because I thought it was just a vehicle for middle-aged women to make pictures of a) religious iconography, b) flower fairies/lady bugs, or c) American Indian imagery.
Then I found this thing called Subversive Cross Stitch (http://www.subversivecrossstitch.com/) (I got the book) and that was how I learned. I made this thing with pretty snowflakes that said "Happy fucking holidays" which was a lot more my speed than the other stuff I mentioned. From that, I branched out into making my own charts (http://www.darklilac.com/upload.jsp) and I did some weirdish stuff that was way more fun than a stupid picture of Jesus.
This was the most recent project I finished. I made it for a lady who likes Blade Runner.

So cross stitch turned out to be less lame than I originally thought. I sort of love making weird, unexpected images. I'm working on a big one of Mohammad Ali now.

It's weird once you had a routine schedule with set times for everywhere you have to be. When i have more than 2 days of free time(i have weekends off) i start to get antsy and bored, i think back to when i had all the time in the world and wonder what the hell i spent it doing.
Usually i do laundry and clean as much as i can. I like to go through my clothes and reorganize them as well as the little things that tend to clutter drawers and spaces. I also love to cook, so i would be trying new things out and/or baking.
I don't know about your parts but the weather has been really nice here. If you like reading or just hanging out why not go to a park with a blanket and some lunch and just relax in the sun?

Did you time-travel to the 1990s to meet your boyfriend?

He installs laser tag arenas?
Wow, he must have been busy in the early - mid 90's.
All I have is free time, I go to work for 10 hours a day and then I go back to my 'room away from home'. I do that for a 20 day stretch, then I'm back home for 8 days of fun filled excitement.
When I get back to my 'room away from home' I usually browse the internet looking for lonely females who's boyfriends/ husbands are out of town so we can cam up.
I have a hard time finding anyone, so if any of the rf.netters know of any females with obscene amounts of free time, with their significant other out of town and with an internet connection... feel free to PM me the contact details.

pick out one or two that strike your fancy and hit up your local library.

Sadly we missed the boom; but a new trend in family fun centers is a blacklight bowling, lazer tag, arcade, mini-golf combo with reloadable cards. He's been to Australia and they might go to Russia next year- it's wild, Brunswick has a major contract with them to do them all over the country.
His dorky boss Jeff was actually on the "National" Laser Tag team. Can you imagine the match-ups with Canada? We've been digging all over the internet to find team photos, and speculate about injuries that forced him to retire.
