Fezzie went through the whole week without crying! And he was on the spot answering difficult questions about his mental stability (which would normally make him cry). It seems like the coping abilities he has learned really worked. Also, this week I felt he was so much quicker and funnier...he had some of the very best lines of the entire week.

Way to go Fez! Great to see you on the right track!

That part must have been a bit.

He was very quick with some great lines this week. There were a few times where Ron and Fez played off each other brilliantly. Martin and Lewis are back together!

Sigh, once my computer business takes off, I'll get an XM subscription so I can start listening to the show again.

I thought fez was awesome this week, but isn't this the sort of thing that really pissed off Ron? Like when the Brooklyn Boys were in studio and Fez said something funny and they basically congratulated him for being funny. And the same thing Ron has been teasing Fez about all week, when he'd start the "Fez is doing his job! Fez is doing his job!" chants?

It seems kind of condescending to say "Good job not crying all week, Fez."

Well Ron was pointing out that the Brooklyn boys stopped everything to point out that Fez made a joke. I doubt he'd be pissed that people recognize that fez is on his way back to being normal, or at least as normal as he can be. He probably wants old Fez back as much as anyone.

Just some opinions regarding Fez and his recovery on and off the show:

I agree that that it seems counterproductive to point out Fez getting better in a condescending manner, esp. regarding encouraging Fez to participate in the show without reservation or fear of saying the "wrong thing."

I do think that Fez seems better overall psychologically than he has in a while, although today's pretaped show seemed a bit rough when I was listening, with Fez not really speaking or participating that much.

Basically, things are not going to change for Fez overnight psychologically or show-wise. It's great that he sought out more intense treatment and is putting in the effort to get better, though only one week on the unit seems a bit light to me, esp. if they were trying to see the effects of changing/adjusting his meds and delving into so many different psychological issues and damaging ways of trying to cope. But Fez deserves major praise for being brave enough to go to the hospital and go through everything without backing out.

In terms of the show, and this IS NOT Dave hate on my part (because I like Dave and feel he has been doing a lot for the show), I really think that it mainly needs to be Ron and Fez on mic and not Dave if they really want Fez to improve and get back to where he wants to in terms of the show. It always seems to me that Fez sounds so much better when Dave is not there. This is not Dave's fault, but it seems true nonetheless. It seems that Fez uses Dave as a crutch and somehow verbally shuts down sometimes when Dave is on mic. This observation is not a new discovery, as Ron, Fez, callers, some people on this board, and others have already pointed this out or discussed it. I think if Fez is put in a situation where people are expecting him to perform or truly depending on him and seem like they trust him to perform (like when he appears on O&A or other shows), then he will step up to the plate. I know this may not seem fair to Dave, but maybe this is what Fez needs right now to help rebuild his confidence. Again, I think Dave deserves major props for coming through during all of this (and a hefty raise, as well), but it would be great to see the show get back to being the Ron and Fez show, true to what the name says.

Hopefully if Fez is able to start socializing more and keeps working on things, he will grow to be happy, and everyhting else will fall into place.

Not trying to be a dick - just calling it as I see it.

Marc

Now that I think about it some more, I agree. It's just hard to expect this sort of week out of Fez. I hope it continues.
Does this mean we have to root for Notre Dame and The Bucs come september to keep him upbeat?

well, my point wasnt that he just went the whole week wtihout crying, but he also had to talk about alot of his mental issues throughout the week in graphic detail. Any other week for the past two years where he had to talk about his issues in the way he did last week, he wouldve immediately broken down into tears. He didnt do that once this week. And thats a very very good thing

He was very funny this week. You could almost hear "classic Fez" trying to break through. Face it, Mr. B has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the last year or so, it was nice to see Fez back as a main on air player.

Let's hope this continues!

Go Fez!
