Step One: Open envelope.
Step Two: Open card and remove check.
Step Three: Read card on the way to the trash can.
Step Four: Throw away envelope and card.
Step Five: Cash check and call dealer or hooker, depending on amount.

If someone is actually stupid enough to give me a card without a check or gift inside I immediately jab the corner of the card right into their eye and punch them square in the forehead.

This is why I won't send cards for birthdays.
I just drive past their house and toss a crumpled five-spot out the window. Maybe they find it. Maybe they don't. My conscience doesn't give a shit either way.

Yeah but most of the people you know or work with don't have "official' birthdays or addresses

for me, it is a mix. when i am alone i would look at the amout and then the card. but, if family and friends are around, i pretend to care what is inside while, in actuality, i am reading the amount over and over again while nodding my head

no way; money talks louder than anything hallmark could say. especially when it's fallin' out of the card.

I think I'll send you card to see if you'll even entertain the idea of trying to do that to me!

Be careful. Right after I'm done Ronnie B comes along and digs your other eye out with his thumb.

The card says, "Choo Choo Choose me." And there's a picture of a train.

I thought you were a Jew? Who in your family is gonna send you money?
Or do you and your twin brother send each other the exact same amount of birthday money, so as not to come off to Jewish?
Jesus' people are so scared of Jewish people..

You should have two polls, one for when you are 12 or younger.
I would have the opposite answer on that poll. Now I'm older and more polite.

I look at the card first. I expect a check, but I'm polite, so I give the card and the giver it's due first. Except when I get one in the mail, then my greedy side takes over and I toss the card aside to look at the cash or check enclosed.

Exactly. To tell the truth, I'm usually a bit embarrassed to receive a card with money in it to begin with.
