i was watching a recent episode of 'boston legal' (which always seems to have political arguments similar to ron's) and they brought up the idea that mccain isnt as well liked as the gop couldve hoped for. is there a chance that they have someone else to run that they would keep a secret till the r.n.c? or does it HAVE to be mccain at this point?

Unless he has a Ted Kennedy like diagnosis it's McCain...

Learn to love it, ladies. McCain is the candidate. The republicans are smart enough to know that he's the only one who can win this time around.

It's not happening. The only thing that will happen is McCain will pick some uber-conservative as VP to shut the base up and get them in line.

NewYorkDragons is right. Unless something BAD health wise happens to McCain, he's their dude. If he has skeletons in his closet, it's pretty much too late to pull him and put the batteries back into Romney and fire up his cylon operating system.

They could always vote for Bob Barr or Alan Keyes. Sure it hurts their "cause", but it may better represent their vote.

America....we have choices! (However far fetched they may be.)

You forgot he betrayed us while getting his ribs shattered for the umpteenth time in the POW camp.

Never even brought home that watch to give to Brucie. Bastard.

I think McCain may go with Lieberman....

You might be onto something, although it is an outside chance. I'm still thinking a neo-con as VP, but Lieberman has been side by side with McCain since he clinched the nomination. He even endorsed McCain.

earthbrown, you may have scooped us all.

IDK, I am torn, I like McCain on many levels, yet he fails to meet the standards of some of my Conservative views....

I hope he is serious about making government smaller, as I think that is a step in the right direction.

Bush has seriously fucked up the country, but I believe OBAMA would further push us into debt via out of control social programs....and I dont want the tax hike, as Obama thinks the $120k my wife and I make make us rich.

They could always vote for Bob Barr

Barr is running as the Libertarian candidate (http://www.bobbarr2008.com). He quit the GOP some time ago.

I predict a dark horse will emerge. There's something fishy about McCain's unwillingness to release his medical records.

But then again I predicted Hillary would be the Democratic nominee..

Yeah, I can't stand that. I'm "rich" because my wife and I combined make about 100k. New Jersey takes real good care of that though. I'd hate to see a bigger chunk taken out by the Feds.

But I'm just not there with McCain. I don't trust him. And I like the "get us off of oil" platform of Obama. That appeals to the national security aspect of my conservatism.

That was a real shame too. I liked Barr as a Republican. He had a common sense attitude towards a lot of issues.

Isn't the average income for a family something like 35000? That would make you filthy rich. Its just cause you live in a wealthy state that it doesnt feel that way.

Before I say anything, did you direct that highlighted area at me?

I hate Bob Barr. Let's see, he was complicit with his wife's abortion, cheated on his wife, then turned around and led the charge against Clinton. Basically, Bob Barr is the Republicans' worst hits.
