This past Saturday night I saw a buddy of mine who looked absolutely awful. He looked disoriented, unkempt, and disheveled. It seemed as if he hadn't seen a comb or razor in weeks, and his eyes were beet red. It was obvious he hadn't had a haircut (or a shower, for that matter) in quite some time.

I asked if everything was OK and he kept insisting things were fine, but I'm worried he might be homeless or something. He claims to have moved recently, which may be true, but I fear the move was out of his home and into the streets.

Do I wait for him to admit there's a problem or should I begin an intervention?

This guy's no dummy; he's a high powered attorney and an administrator of an internet message board. It's even rumored that he's the "real" producer of a satellite radio show.

What's the proper protocol?

It's possible that your friend might just be struggling under the extreme amount of stress that comes with the responsibility of his job, his admin duties, and whatever comes from his rumored position. Has his hair become unaturally long and shaggy?

LOL! No, 'twasn't our beloved Mr. Whatley!

I hate you.

Sorry if this hits too close to home. And it's common to lash out at those that are trying to help you. I still love you, my friend.

It's an American tragedy really..
I've heard stories about people like this..Some will go as far as peddling their children and the child's "skills" to anyone who will listen..
It can be very painful for everyone involved..
