We did a cruise for our honeymoon (actually, 2 cruises) and loved it. My best friend went to Barbados and wants to go back real bad. And another one of my friends just got back from his in Antigua and recommended it to anyone who would listen.
I would highly recommend Barbados, though. It's an amazing island.

i say bermuda. its beautiful, warm, no crime, english spoken, and, the main reason i go, almost no sharks while swimming because the entire island is surrounded by coral reefs.

Somewhere in the Bronx.
You can still speak a foreign language if you want to,
the weather's not been bad lately,
and most importantly...
YOU CAN SEE A YANKEE GAME THERE!!!!

...but this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. On Grande Cayman, there is a bioluminescent bay you can paddle into (or walk to) that is just amazing. Its completely safe and you cannot believe how bright the water becomes when you start moving around. Its worth the trip.------Oh, and Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials.

We did a 7 day Royal Carribean cruise. Great way to see stuff, yet still be treated like royalty (PM Hippo)
Followed by 5 days at a resort in Puerto Rico. Just to unwind and enjoy.

after you listen to and price out all the others try the Dominican Republic.
Punta Cana, or Puerto Plata. We stayed at the Sun Village Resort in Puerto Plata.

Bermuda is absolutely gorgeous, especially on the scooters.
To stay there is extremely expensive. There are sharks on the south side of the island, but nothing to worry about.

We did a little over a week in Maui. The flight is long, but it was awesome - so much so that we're going back in 2009.
You can fly directly out of Newark Liberty into Honolulu on Oahu, and then just stay overnight in a hotel in Oahu. See Pearl Harbor the next morning, then connect to Maui on a lunchtime flight.
I'm not sure what your price range is, but I believe the roundtrip flight from Newark to HNL is about 800-900 (depending on which day you leave), and then it's up to you where you want to stay. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Maui, which is right on the sunnyside of the island and it was an incredible experience.
Of course, different strokes for different folks - Hawaii isn't everyone's bag, but if you're considering Mexico, you should think about Hawaii too.

St John, USVI (don't tell too many people about it, though)
35 minute ferry ride from St. Thomas. 75% of the island is national forest land- totally undeveloped rain forest. You can sit on a beach all day and be the only people on it. My favorite place on earth (so far)

edit: and btw this picture above is of the "tourist" beach- the one that everyone goes to and there is what, like 25 maybe?, people on it?

The Puerto Rican island of Vieques has the same thing. I just wouldn't really recommend that island, though.

My wife and I loved both the US and British Virgin Islands. We stayed on St. John for the US and Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. It was our first vacation together and still 1 of our 2 favorites.

a definite must have for me is a kick ass spa. i'm all about the pampering/spa treatment, and also, i can also learn some new techniques for my own practice
we would love to do italy or hawaii, but dont think we can fit it in our budget. and a cruise would be a possibility, but i'm not sure. we have it narrowed down to cabo, puerto vallarta, virgin islands, bermuda, bahamas, angtigua, anguilla, turks & caicos, aruba. since i only have a 3 day work week, it's my job to look into this crap, but i'm just a little overwhelmed with it all.

St Lucia: Sandals St Lucia top All Inclusive and Spa on one of the nicest islands
Aruba: 4 or 5 good properties , great weather year round, lowest chance for rain or bad weather is in Aruba
Hawaii: Expensive, but you will love it, never EVER get any complaints about Hawaii
Tahiti: Add $2000 and 5 hours to your flight to Hawaii, and you can brag you went to Tahiti

Yes but for the price of going to Hawaii you can do two (almost three) cruises.
I also vie for the cruise decision.
Your meals are paid for, (as is almost everything else except for alcoholic drinks), you get to see multiple islands. you have a choice of 4,5,7,10 and 14 day cruises and (since you asked for it) most of the better cruise lines also have spas in them.

I am going to suggest what I did, because it was awesome.
We thought about going to the Caribbean or other more expenses places and stay at a resort.
But then we realized that what's the point of a honeymoon if you're just gonna stay in a resort over there that looks exactly like one here.
We decided to go to California.
The cost of road tripping all of California up and down for 10 days would be less that a trip to the Caribbean for 7.
And it was awesome.
We went skydiving. We stayed at a vineyard. The only ones there that night at a bed and breakfast. Had hand squeezed blood orange juice.
We drove up a mountain, 7000 ft. up. We climbed (there was a walk path) all the way up this huge rock (Moro Rock) that gave us a 360 view of everything. The Mountains with the snow on top. All the hills, the valleys.
So beautiful.
Partied in San Fransisco.
Went TO DISNEYLAND.
Went through a dirt rode all the way down through this forest and up through these steep ass hill with no railing on the side. It was crazy.
So many things happened.
It was awesome.
I'm telling you, save your money and trade it for an experience!
(brought to you by our sponsers Californina)

I'm getting married on Saturday and heading to Riviera Maya in Mexico on Monday. Staying until the following Monday. We did it through applevacations.com.
They rate their all inclusive packages by apples on a scale of 1-6. And if they're GOLD apples its even better. Our package was rated 5 golden apples.
We're staying at Iberostar Paraiso del Mar.
http://applevacations.com/showHotel.do?lastActive=&hotelCode=211040&command=showHotel
it says Cancun but its actually Riviera Maya which is right near Cancun.
