this country is fucked as far as jobs go.

Absolutely nothing.

I'm fortunate enough to be employed and have a little bit of scratch to my name, but my fancy new college degree is worth more as scrap paper than it is as a resume builder, because there are no jobs...anywhere....period.

So much for moving up.

when 'making' a hamburger at a fast food joint is considered a 'manufacturing' job, chances are other jobs that sound good on paper are going to be crap min wage jobs

i couldnt agree more...it sucks having a college degree and seeing your friends that droped out making more money than you driving forklifts because they went to work right after highschool...i know they arent really going anywhere but still...

I just graduated two weeks ago with a degree in landscape architecture. The job prospects in LA are deplorable. On the national association's website there have only been 76 jobs posted in the last month (nationwide, all levels of experience) Many of my contemporaries are yet unemployed with no prospects or any idea what to do next.

When I started on this degree three years ago (It's a second bachelor's, so it only took three years) those graduating could pick their job and could still even negotiate salaries. Now, that's just a pipe dream. I was fortunate enough within the last couple of weeks to land a job with the state in my chosen field. Were it not for that, we might have lost our house.

Yes, as a country, we are quite fucked.

This I have noticed. I have the worst fucking timing in the world. I'm not even getting callbacks from temp agencies.

i'm gonna ride out the summer before i start really looking for a new job, but for now, i'm happy enough to have a job that leaves me in the black at the end of the month.

looks like it's gonna be several years of a sh!tty economy before things pick up again.

The comfort of sweatpants should't be reserved solely for the sweaty. I call on Georgio Armani to design the world's first 3-piece sweat-suit complete with sweat tie.

Try finding a job without a college degree. It's impossible, even though I have nearly 10 years of managerial experience. It means nothing if I didn't waste money going to college.

Me, neither. It sucks. I thought temp agencies would be a sure thing, and I can't even get anything there.

How did you get your first managerial job -- thru moving up or when the job market was better? This coming from someone looking to move up in the world without a degree

My friend was in the union as an electrician and was layed off for nearly two years. He just moved to Vegas in hopes to get onto one of the casino projects out there

I had a normal job in my industry and just moved up pretty quickly.
