Sorry not familiar enough with Emerson. If you had access to a car, I could help, but walking, not so much.

I happen to live a swift 5 minute walk from that train stop. I believe there is a hair salon place of some sort at the shopping center on Main Street. Very easy to get to from the train station. It's a couple minute drive, probably about a half hour walk.

Get off the train and just go down Main street (past the Boston Market). You'll end up going past the middle school and high school, and at the end of the road is the shopping center with a Shoprite, a pizza place, some other stuff and a hair salon.

There's also a hair salon place directly across the street from the train station. Dunno if it's unisex or what, though.

go on yahoo and click the yellow pages section. You can search for all the hairdressers around in emerson. The train will put you right about on Kinderkamack Rd, at least I think thats where it was.

Tough to answer because my "walking distance" in this heat is appx 15 feet before I want to put a gun in my mouth. There is a place right by that stop, next to Hot Dog Heaven, but Ive never been there. Take a cab to Hans Maxems in Westwood.

I just went to the dentist, and while driving home I checked. Get off the train, and you'll see the Boston Market. In the small lot to the left of it is Emerson Beauty Nook. It's a 30 second walk from the train.

Hans Maxems is the spot to go, (as enabler said) but there is always Cutz Sylez on the corner of Linwood and Kinderkamack. Practically at the train station. The walk to the Shop Rite may be a bit much as well.

"Nook" is a codeword for something really bad I tells ya.

Cuts Stylez is good as well, I assume. I only went there once, and it was years and years ago back when it was called Hilo and was under different management.

If you want to get to my front door, exit the train, walk straight through the series of baseball fields, then go up to the house across the street on the corner.

If you can get off at one stop earlier (Oradell) there's Panico salon on the corner across from the station.
