With the lack of any good TV shows this summer I decided to watch Twin Peaks again for probably about the 6th of 7th time on DVD. I begin with the pilot than do season 1 and season 2 then Fire Walk with Me. Have to say while Season two has its dull moments, the whole saga is great. I can only imagine how well this show would do now in a post Lost world. Any other fans of the show? I didn't get into it until after I saw Mulholland Drive in 2001 but now it's definitely in my top 5 TV shows of all time and even though FWWM isn't perfect, damn does it have some creepy scenes!

Season one is a amazing but lost a lot in the second season. Fire walk with me is an amazing movie on it's own. I so love it.

I saw FWWM before I watched the series in 1992 and it really got me into watching the series. I'm a big fan. It was actually interesting to watch the show while knowing who killed Laura. I loved Ray Wise as Leland in the movie so it was so entertaining to see him go wacko on the show. I actually think I like the movie more than the show. Much darker.
They aired the whole series on Bravo a year after the show got canceled and added the log lady intros which weren't there on the original broadcasts. The show played on Saturday nights and I made it a point to hang with one of my friends to watch it every week. I think it was episode 16 that wasn't aired because of some problem with Bravo. I remember being so pissed because that was the episode where it's revealed that Leland was the one who murdered Laura. I knew it already, but it would have been great to see it unfold. I eventually saw it, but not until a year later.

The whole package. Season 1 and 2 including the good version of the pilot. Also with log lady intros.

I have never seen a single episode of the TV series nor the movie.

Worth checking out?

Definitely worth it. Season 1 is great and the first 9 or so episodes of episode two are even better. Then there's a lull where they kind of suck, then after about 5 episodes it starts to get good again and ends crazy good. FWWM is also very good and very creepy. I love it.

After we saw Mulholland Drive in 01, my college roommate bought the Hong Kong Twin Peaks pilot DVD on ebay and we checked it out. He then got Season 1 on DVD and I was hooked. I was so bummed that S2 wasn't on DVD. After accidentally reading a spoiler about a year later, I was able to track down someone who burned CDs with AVI files of Season 2 for me. I watched them on my PC and then a few months later when I was watching the 2nd go round with some friends on my modded XBox. Definitely awesome to now have to rely on those awful Swedish TV rips anymore.

Season 2 came out on DVD last Spring then a few months later they released the whole series (with pilot) since the Artisan S1 set (that didn't have the pilot) went out of print. I still have the HK pilot, Artisan S1 set, and the S2 standalone set. I'm hesitant to get rid of my Artisan set as it has the DTS track and an INCREDIBLE transfer.

Also for those who are fans that haven't read it, the book The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer by Jennifer Lynch is a good read even if it doesn't always agree with some of the stuff seen in the show.

That might be the best way to describe this show that I have ever encountered.

Even the sucky episodes are ok. hey may not make sense or be written so well..... but they are interesting.

I watched all of the eps when they originally aired and enjoyed them greatly. I saw FWWM in the theater, but I didn't enjoy it as much. I've been meaning to re-visit (I've got a copy of season 2 from the prize closet), but was kind of put off on picking up season i since it didn't have the pilot and you had to pick up the the import copy of the pilot and not watch the last 10 minutes or something bizarro like that. I may have to get season 1 now.

There'd be no such thing as a "post lost world" without Twin Peaks

Now we know where all the good stuff from the prize closet goes.

Quite possibly true.

I loved this show when it aired, and felt I was in the minority at the time.
I never experienced the lull, as far as I can remember, loved every minute of it,
and was pissed off at the Nielsen Families when it was canceled.

It's been awhile since Ive seen an episode...
I wonder if I'd still like it. hmmm.....

I really dig Twin Peaks it's such a great TV series (possibly the best in my opinion). A lot of people dont like season 2 but i think its still good. Especially Windham Earle. Theres a lot of unnecessary stuff though like when James had the relationship with that blonde woman ( I think her name was Everlyn or something). Anyways great show.

I couldnt get into Fire Walk With Me. Because on the show it was very behind the curtains kinda ,mystery feel to it whilst FWWM is very in your face and violent.

Im a David Lynch fan too, i thought i woulda ate FWWM right up, but i didnt. Its still a ok flick tho but nowhere near the quality of the show.

That's interesting because I watched FWWM first and thought it was very mysterious. I thought there was more "what the fuck?" in that movie than in most other movies I've seen up until that point I loved the dark creepiness and the violence and I thought the show was kinda soft in comparison.

I'm sure many of you will have a different opinion but I tell people to watch the film first if they're getting into the show regardless of the fact that the murderer is revealed.

I need to pick up the new box set and watch the series end to end again. Season 2 does drop, but by the end of the season, they are doing things as good, if not better, than season 1. If Lynch wasn't forced to reveal Bob so early by the network, the show would be stronger in season 2.

So I guess the joke's on me since I already paid for season one 5 years ago. This reeks of garmonbozia.

I totally agree, Lost, the X-Files, and tons of other shows probably wouldn't have been written without Twin Peaks.
I still think one of the creepiest scenes in all of cinema is in FWWM

(minor spoiler for those who haven't seen it)
the scene with the little man talking about living above the convenience store with the creepy long nosed guy

Man, that is my favorite scene in all cinema. I always get chills right before that scene when Philip Jeffreys (David Bowie) starts freakin out. "My God I FOUND something."
