if you can avoid it, taking a cash advance on a cc is a bad idea (unless you don't owe anything on th card) The cc company will charge you interest on whats owed on the card & a higher interest rate on the cash advance. not to mention that they will hit you twice in late fees, if you are late.

Just try to live within your means and remember, you can't get rich spending money.
I'm not saying; be cheap but if you can't afford something then don't buy it.
I've given two classic cliches of money management but at the end of the day, it is up to you and a penny saved is a penny earned.------There's three. (cliches that is)

This fall I took the family to see the mouse in Florida. I budgetted and stashed Christmas $ before we went. When we got home I handed the wife the cash. 3 months later I started getting credit card bills. My wife used the cash and deferred credit cards and gave the kids a great christmas. I now have an uphill battle and probaly an ulcer.
I'm not the greatest with money but I avoid credit cards @ all costs. My biggest sinkhole now is my truck. It sucks gas. Yay Hemi!
I cosigned on a car for a friend. The car got repo-ed after she tried to leave it as collateral to bail her dirtbag boyfriend out of jail.
Needless to say I'm still PAYING for that mistake with brutally ruined credit, but I finally got everything else in check. Just do your best to make sure you're making at least the minimum payments. Missy referred me to a credit board website (I think crediboards.com?) and it was really informative and helpful. A lot of people in similar situations.

I used a cash advance once to pay off a violation on my license. I have actually decreased my debt significantly in the last year or so but my only problem now is that my boyfriend is a lazy shithead who has no credit because mommy and daddy pay all his bills.

i had no credit until i was like 22 or 23 even thought i had a lot of money in the bank. i just always used debt cards or cash. then i realized eventually i will need credit, but no one would give me a card! i had to get a secured credit card. i had it for maybe 2 months and then the barrage of credit applications started to come in the mail. now i have 4-5 cards that i use all the time. still have never not paid them off at the end of the month. cresdit is really important. in certain situations it helps lower car insurance, helps you get an apt, even certain jobs check it.
