If we were talking about just the States I would have gone with whites. I saw East Asians on the list and went with them because I have never experienced racism worse than in China, Japan, and Korea.

I was thinking in terms of casual American racism. All of those groups will pull out the stops at times when confronted with aspects of another race they don't like, by too many whites by far seem to be the ones who too often enjoy making a hobby out of it and going out of their way to be as racist as possible like it's something to be proud of.

But yeah, this discussion is much bigger if we go global. China is and always has been incredibly racist in their historical perspective going back centuries that they're better than EVERYONE, and that thinking still influences a lot over there today.

I don't argue that there's a degree of racism in the topic (never argued against it. Nor am I "complaining" that most black people that I have met blame racisms for the stuff that I mentioned ... in some instances it's true, but it's also untrue.

Growing up surrounded by my fellows whiteys in P.A. i heard plenty of racism. Living in NYC for over a decade i 've had an arab curse out an ex of mine who was jewish, guys from the islands put down black guys from NYC, a subcontractor who is black say very racist shit about whitey, and of course white guys attacking blacks. Last but not least a middle aged radio personality who fears all but aryans although he is far from aryan himself.
A very close friend of mine who is black and grew up in Queens tells me about the racism in the black community along with animosity and jealousy of anyone who tries to get out of the hood.

To sum up, the racism I hear comes from all races. Blacks are the common target
Jews get a fair share of comments but the fear isn't there just resentment.

Even where I grew up the blatant racism seems to be unacceptable but there is always the behind closed doors racist.

I don't see how they can't have anything to do without the circumstances as to why someone would be in that position in the first place. And yes, while I think much of that is racism, I think it is a totally different type of "racism" when it's coming from an oppressed group towards a symbolic oppressor. That doesn't make it "right," but it is clearly different than an oppressor group being racist towards the oppressed. A white guy hating Native Americans is clearly different than the history of why Native Americans would hate a white guy. That doesn't excuse what happened to Coach, but I don't see how that is possibly "more racist" than an oppressor group's racism.

In his specific situation he was the one denied a service because of his devilish eye color. So in this microworld he was the minority being discriminated against. The history of the native Americans isn't Coach's fault unless he's the worlds oldest injun hunter.

I ran into tons of prejudice and at one point got stabbed when I lived in Taiwan. It was tempting to say, 'fuck them, this island is a shithole'. Rotten experiences can make you seriously dislike a group of people. However, I think being a decent human being means getting beyond it and not just saying this whole group of people suck. A lot of negative opinions in these two threads are based on just a couple of bad experiences. It's easy to say that you heard a few black guys say they hate white people or you don't get gas in Wyoming because of your blue eyes and then draw inaccurate conclusions about all black or Native American people.

The "want to oppress each other" doesn't seem too applicable here. Nor does it really hold water throughout much of history. Most nations or groups that do or choose to "oppress" have the means to do so and to keep themselves from being truly oppressed. Oppressed groups typically don't seek such lare scale oppression, nor do they have the means to do so. Your hypothetical is referring to groups presumably on an even footing.

I ran into tons of prejudice and at one point got stabbed when I lived in Taiwan. It was tempting to say, 'fuck them, this island is a shithole'. Rotten experiences can make you seriously dislike a group of people. However, I think being a decent human being means getting beyond it and not just saying this whole group of people suck. A lot of negative opinions in these two threads are based on just a couple of bad experiences. It's easy to say that you heard a few black guys say they hate white people or you don't get gas in Wyoming because of your blue eyes and then draw inaccurate conclusions about all black or Native American people.

so, let us say there are two hypothetical groups a and b. both hate each other and want to oppress the other. group a wins and does oppress b. why are they automatically more racist simply because they were victorious?

the victorious group's would have more power and could be more harmful to the oppressed group. b group people could have their prejudices toward a group members but they couldn't act on those prejudices as effectively. I always thought that 'racism = power + prejudice' was too simplistic but there is a power dynamic that you can't ignore. The prejudice of the oppressed is less likely to result in action that can hurt the oppressor (short of violence).

The "want to oppress each other" doesn't seem too applicable here. Nor does it really hold water throughout much of history. Most nations or groups that do or choose to "oppress" have the means to do so and to keep themselves from being truly oppressed. Oppressed groups typically don't seek such lare scale oppression, nor do they have the means to do so. Your hypothetical is referring to groups presumably on an even footing.

Which I agree with, but it's not a very realistic hypothetical. It's incredibly rare where an oppressed group takes power and the former oppressors are still around to be oppressed themselves, and even when that happens, it's typically self-contained within the same racial group.

Well from my experience in this world i wouldn't be able to say one "race" is more racist. I've never dealt with a whole "race" that was racist. I've been hated on by certain individuals because they assumed how i acted because of skin color. I won't equate that to an entire group of people. I've had friends of many different back rounds and they've all treated me as i treated them. I try not to take individual experiences and pawn them off on large segments of society.
