I'm one of those dreaded low-talker mumblers. Too afraid to speak up as a child I've mumbled my way through life. I hate it, but don't think I can change it unless I go to a speech therapist.
How do you make yourself heard?

My voice is all over the place. When I'm in serious mode, I talk very low and often mumble even though I barely notice myself doing it and when I'm relaxed and having fun, I pretty much yell and, again, barely notice myself doing it.
My high school teachers hated me because there was rarely ever a middle ground.

I tend to get loud when I'm upset. And I've been told that my LI accent (that I hide well) comes out when I get mad.

I agree about relaxing the diaphragm. Try looking at an animation of the muscles involved in breathing - if you practice (depending on how tightly strung you are) you'll be able to relax it on command and really be BIG VOICE GUY!!! It's not really yelling it's... sonorous. I do big voice guy with my 4 month old sometimes when he's crying - he's so startled that someone's so loud that he stops immediately - doesn't always stay stopped but I take pride in the times he does.
That said - I'm pretty tightly strung and have to consciously relax all the time. Sometimes I pull it off - sometimes I don't. Sometimes Ronnie'd say "put a little bass in your voice"

I loathe loud talkers. There is this guy in my office and he sounds like a room full of people. He sits on the other side our large office room and you can hear every single thing he says to people. People yell at me for talking away from them (not looking at them when I am talking) and my problem is that I get really pissed when I have to repeat myself, so generally I think that people will say I am an annoying talker.

I speak very loudly (especially when saying something offensive), I have a cute voice and I always talk with a smile even when saying mean things, i make intense eye contact with not only people I am speaking with but often bystanders (which causes al ot of problems such as guys thinking I am looking at them in a sexy way when Im not) ....i always say double negatives and nonexistent words and I have very poor grammar and all of it is due to laziness not intelligence (same goes for my uncorrected typos)

Hello JoanyRotn!
Do you have a brother or three you've intentionally never made contact with..
If so, I think you owe us an apology and like 5 grand each in retroactive mother's day giftings..
Paypal works for me..

I tend to get loud, especially when I get excited or something. Mostly, I think, because I cant hear for shit with how I blast my music. Naturally my voice is loud anyway. Loud deep and somewhat scratchy

I need a voice assessment.
Generally I think I speak loud enough. I do spit sometimes.
What would you say about my voice?
I don't smoke. I don't really drink that much. I have a job that doesn't require me to even talk on the phone.

I have been told that I mumble on occasion... but generally I think I speak pretty clearly, but the sound is much smaller than you would expect from a trained opera singer.
I remember the first time a friend came to see me perform on stage after knowing me for almost a year.... the first thing out of her mouth was, "I had NO Idea you could talk that loudly!!"

I have a southern accent which I have been told is "cute" and "hot" but sometimes I think it just makes me sound like a bimbo so I try to change it to not say things so southern--ish. I never noticed it until I moved to the fricking midwest and I think it's because these people here don't talk right.
