Looking at Pete's list...

Elm Street 3 is the best in the series.
How can you list Jedi without listing Empire Strikes Back. All Jedi had was a bunch of muppets.
And how can you say you are kidding about Tron? The movie is awesome and one of the proto-hacker movies, along with Wargames.

Well the TRON (J/K) was an attempt at a very subtle joke from the Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror short called Homer 3D. I liked the movie as a kid & Wargames as well. I guess the joke just flew on by everyone. I listed Jedi cause I forgot Empire came out in 80. I posted it without checking out IMDB. Empire is my favorite Star Wars. ""Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen in Carbonite and gets taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings." - Dante Hicks

One thing about Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Watch the movie & listen to Primus' "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver". Middle of the song there's a sample from the radio station trashing scene. All you hear is the chainsaw blaring & "Weehee Dog will hunt". The mongoloid with the metal plate in his head says "dog will hunt" while burning a bent up coat hanger to scratch off the flesh off of his metal plate & eat it, repeating it throughout the movie. A sick movie, but not enough bloodshed. At least in this movie Leatherface is masculine, unlike in #4 (starring Renee Zellweiger & Matthew McConaughey)where Leatherface is a Transvestite mongoloid who cries like a little girl with a scraped knee. Oh & Nightmare On Elm Street:Dream Warriors was a damn good movie.

GOTCHA was a paintball movie with, I believe, C. THomas Howell (if you can't remember who was in a movie from the 80's... just guess C. Thomas Howell. The odds would be good). Bunch of kids were paintballing around town and somehow they start an international incident and wind up in East Berlin. The chick was hot. That's all I really remember.

anyone remember TOP SECRET with Dabney Coleman? What a piece of crap that was.

Some movies that I hadn't seen mentioned:

RED DAWN (heavy brat packish quotient) "What's the difference between us and them?" "WE LIVE HERE" * NOTE: C. Thomas Howell drank the deer blood.

THE OUTSIDERS (Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Ralph Machiio AND C. THOMAS HOWELL). "No one gonna have a rumble without me..."

THE LOST BOYS.

This could be a long list! Flash Gordon....somehow I still find this movie to be very entertaining, in spite of the heavy cheese factor and bad acting. It just looks cool! The Zucker Bros films Airplane, Top Secret, etc. Stupid but funny. Great horror flicks in the 80s too..Day of the Dead, the Fly, Troma films, Night of the Comet, Humanoids from the Deep, Aliens, Basket Case, and TONS more. Decline of Western Civilization part 1 and 2. And the capper, even though its a year off (1990) Goodfellas. Maybe the 80s werent so bad after all!
