Afternoons starting on July 7 on OCEAN 98 in Ocean City Maryland.
Great beach station. Don will be playing music and having some fun.
He was on the rude awakening show this morning to make the announcement and talk about his career. Was a great ionterview.
One minute I can't stand the guy - the next, Im tuning in to hear him. Love him or hate him, he does great radio and has a real passion for broadcasting. That kind of passion has to be respected weather you like the guy or not.
The station can be heard online - http://www.irieradio.com/

you mean whether? Normally I'd be the last one to point out a mistake like that, but you seemed to make such a big deal of that one word

i am glad he is going to be doing something that he wants.
That's what he had hoped to do: spin tunes on the Ocean City station. Good for him.

That's why he was careful in not using the word "retirement" when he left the D&M show. since he left, I stopped listening. The Mike O'Meara show is just not the same.

Boy, that retirement lasted, what, two months?

I still don't quite believe this, by the way.

I guess maybe sitting home and not doing what he loved as career made him think twice. I say bravo for the man.

Good for him. How's Mike been doing with his show? Anybody listen?

I've listened to Mike's show.
Actually I've listened to Ron and Ron, Ron and Fez, Opie and Anthony before Syndication, and Don and Mike jsut a bit before they got on WNEW.
Anyhow, the Mike O'meara show isn't bad, really. It contains more of Rob & Buzz, who I enjoy alot of. Their on-air roles were rather limited on the old show...and I think that hearing more of them is a strong point.
The show is almost a little bit more "structural"...meaning Buzz gets news bits every half hour (i think that's the interval), and phone calls for guests are more streamlined and focused.
Other than that it's the same show, with more Buzz, Robb and the new Exect Producer "Beth Anne" (sp)

Geronimo To Satrad - 7/18 - DCRTV hears a reliable rumor that DC radio legend Don Geronimo (right) could very well be heading to satellite radio come October. Either to DC's XM or to the Sirius/XM merged company, if the satrad marriage is ever approved. Geronimo, who retired from CBS talker WJFK-FM in April, started doing a music show for Ocean City eclectic rocker WOCM earlier this month.....
Any One Going To Give It A Listen ?

Ocean 98 is a great station. Im in OC every weekend and never get to hear Don. But I love the format. They play a lot of great music. Easily the best station in that area.

For me, it would depend upon what type of show it was. A "Don and Mike Show" reunion? Or similar format? Maybe. I would be interested in what they would do on an uncensored show.
I actually enjoyed their WJFK show before the New York City fiasco when they tried and failed (miserably) to try to do a mid-day show for the New York listeners.
Just Don "spinnin' the hits" and talking up "records"... probably not.
It was actually Don and Mike going to WNEW in 2001 which first turned me on to O&A and R&F, so I thank them for that.

This story does give me some cautious optimism that the buddays will stay on satellite radio, because if they're making new programming hires, this might mean that the programming will not be utterly slashed like I fear it may be. We'll see.
I mean, the whole drama of O&A's contract not being picked up yet doesn't surprise me. The merger looks like it actually is about to go down this time, so I doubt anything but the absolutely most essential business is being done.

Don Geronimo is back off the air.
Fired from his mid-day Ocean City (md) gig according to dcrtv, for ad-libbing too much during live reads, among other things.

Or Don Geronimo will come at a cheaper price then R&F combined and they could be cut because of that

I thought they were rumours he would go to Satellite for music. I think Mike and the rest are doing really well on JFK, so I don't think they'd bolt for anything. So that would have 0% to do with the buddies.
But I could be wrong.

I'm actually loving the tMoMs. listening daily...stopped listening to Don and Mike about a year ago but gave Mike a chance as I always liked Buzz and Robb and Mike's doing a great job without Don.
