some of you are aware of my health and my (lack of a) job situation. Because I am out of a job, I have no insurance to go to doctors to figure out why I can't stop throwing up. I've had to deal with that for a few months now, its fine, I can deal with that bullshit.

But becuase I have no income I have to leave my apartment and move into a new place with my brother, who is also poor. We have to put the security deposit down this week as well as first month's rent.

We don't have the money, but we spoke with my parents and they were gonna spot us. But my dad said today that they can't afford to spare the money now. They will do what they can, but it wont be enough.

So here I am, broke, about to be homeless, and covered in my own vomit. Yay.

Go to the emergency room, they can't refuse to treat you just because you don't have insurance, granted you will end up with a bill but pay them $20 a month or whatever you can. If it affects you not being able to work then maybe you can file for disability. I know it sucks to be unemployed and sick but I would rather give you the hug than a bullet in the head.

it depends on how much my brother and parents can chip in. The security is 1950, and then 1300 for rent. I just talked to my current landlord and convinced her to give me half of my security deposit back before I move out, so that's 500 there. I am thinking of putting some stuff up for pawn (do they still have pawn shops?) I can pawn my Strat and probably get 1000 for it, but I hate to part with it.

There are pawn shops but perhaps shoot douggrasso a pm since he and his brother are doing the music stuff you might get a better deal if it comes down to that.

I dont think I am comfortable with that. We are a family, but we're an internet family. Most of us have never even met. Its not the same.

I really appreciate the thought though. :)

definitely write Dr. Steve at drsteve202@gmail.com.

He talked about something similar - about some guy who threw up every time he lied down and how there's some wonky valve between the stomach and the rest of the world that doesn't always work so well.

But Dr. S will help...

Sorry about your tough times...

Well, I've already been to a gastroentorologist and had a bunch of procedures done and they couldn't find anything wrong with my stomach. I personally think it has something to do with my lungs, cause the vomiting seems to be triggered by coughing attacks

Could it be a bad respiratory infection that is causing you to cough so violently it's making you vomit?

Good luck with your housing situation. I'm sure everything will work out.

$1300 for a place in Rockland? seems kinda steep for a place when you're out of a job (i'm paying almost $500 less, and i'm only 15 minutes from midtown). aren't there any cheaper options available?

Did they test you for reflux? Jeff had something similar, he doesn't vomit, but his reflux causes coughing fits rather than your typical heartburn. It took them forever to finally diagnose it, and many different types of meds before it was treatable.

Yes, they tested me. They said I have very mild reflux that couldn't possibly be causing the violent, body wracking spasms that I have. :(

Agreed, nothing to be embarassed about as Nick stated.

When I was younger my father was out of work, we were on Food Stamps until my he was able to find proper work. It was difficult, dad took a job pumping gas, HATED it and wanted to quit but mom made him go in everyday.

You're smart and motivated. This is only a temporary situation. Take each day as they come but never loose focus of the future and what you eventually want. It's not going to be easy Hippie, but you WILL get through this.

Craig,

Don't feel embarrassed about going on food stamps. As others have pointed out, you've paid into a system that was set up for such a situation.

I was on food stamps for a while after I applied for disability. It was tough and, yes, I was a little embarrassed to scan my card. But whatever. I had a friend who almost went on food stamps when she was living in a tiny apt in Brooklyn as she was getting her masters in social work.

I actually talked with her not so long ago and A LOT of people are confiding in her and asking how to get on food stamps. Times are tough. The economy is in the crapper. You are not alone in THE LEAST!!!!

Hang tough buddy!

Love,
Petrina

I want to thank everyone for their support. You guys are true friends (even the ones I havent met) and I am lucky to know you.

I am moved in to my new place, and i should be getting my security deposit back soon. I think between me and my brother, and the small income I have coming in through my p/t job, I should be ok for a while.

again, thank you all.
