I wish him the best of luck. I hope it answers his questions and helps him move ahead.

But in the meantime, while we wait for American Eagle to find his dad. Does anyone have a similar story? Did it change your life? Was it the right thing to do?

I have a similar story in my family. Although it didnt really involve me. My aunt reconnected to her daughter that she gave away for adoption when she was a young teen. It was really a mixture of dramatic emotions. The very same time her daughter found my aunt, her son, my cousin was shot and killed. There my aunt was losing one child and finding another. It's truely an unbelievable story. My aunt found out she was a grandmother as well. Her daughter had 2 children.

I always thought it was done at just the right time for her daughter to come into her life at that moment. It really helped my aunt stay sane.

I can't personally relate. Aside from wanting to know if the guy went bald, I have no similar interest. (especially since I don't want to be arrested for assault)

I hope Anthony has a more positive outcome.

I thought it was kinda funny that he wanted to bring his 'boys' along w/ him for the initial meet.

My Uncle had two children with his first wife, and she broked off contact after the divorce. About 10 years they were both fully grown (one had a family of his own) and they searched him out and we started seeing them at family events, etc... I can't remember exactly but it was only a year or two after that my uncle passed, so they were lucky they searched him out when they did, it would seem.

My wife's biological father was not in her life at all. Not even at birth. She was raised by her mother and brother and sister. Her mom told her that this guy knocked her up and then took off.

When my wife turned 18 this guy tried to contact her. My wife met him and had dinner with him. Turns out that this guy tried to be a part of her and her mothers life, but her mother wouldn't allow it. She made him leave and told my wife that he was a deadbeat.

Now my wife still does not have a relationship with him because of the awkwardness. We have two kids that he has never met.

I feel bad for the guy since he tried for 18 years and my mother in law cock blocked him by withholding the truth from my wife.

I think whether my wife likes it or not I will arrange for him to meet his grandkids as they are innocent and would probably be asking questions in the future. I met the guy a couple times and he "seems" to be ok.

Do you think Pitzy and Tooth Pick Vick will get a nice wedding present if he manages to reconnect with his Dad?

the part I don't get is pitz acting like he's upset after admitting that his dad tried to stay in contact with him, sure he was a kid but still, if he simply ripped up the guys letters what did he expect?

i still wish him luck though, but he should realize that if him and his mom made it obvious they didn't want his father involved, then he should take ownership of that fact if they do meet.

"I feel bad for the guy since he tried for 18 years and my mother in law cock blocked him"

this is without a doubt the worst usage of the phrase "cock blocked" ever. congratulations.

my parents got married way too young, and my father was a miserable drunk, and did every shitty thing a husband could do ... they got divorced in 1980 when i was 5 (and my sister was just born), and he never really contributed financially or emotionally

in the last thirty years we learned to get along really well without him (my sister has some minor hangups), and he's popped up every once in a while -- but never for long or really made much of an impact

i got a letter a few years ago from some rehab place near albany asking for me (and my family) to attend some weekend therapy session, after i passed, the rehab place forwarded a note from my father hoping to get his family back together after this current say

what bothered me was that my life went on when he left, i got angered at the implication that the last three decades have been on hold until he got his life straight (for the nth attempt) ... sure there were some shitty teenage moment that maybe having a dad would've eased some awkwardness

for all his failings as father, i was blessed with the best mom in the world who worked endless jobs, multiple shifts and put herself through college (and a master's degree) ... she also put my sister and i through 12 years of catholic school, and we really never wanted for much in life

i'm 33 now, married to a great chick and i have my own six month son ... and i have no need to include my father in any of my bliss

i'm not angry or bitter, and i offer no ill will, but he made his choices and there were consequences, and the biggest was missing out our life

i'm not sure if pitzy is doing the right thing, there's a reason his dad & him never connected and maybe it's for the best

I don't know why anyone would want to have a relationship if they didn't even contribute financially to your upbringing.

Seems like when the hard part is over, and then they decide to find you.

Yeah, I'd also like a real "Empire" ending for this.
