BKV had a great point...the biggest flaws of the "icon" comic characters is that their stories don't end. Nothing really has any weight or depth because it all has to keep going and going. That's a big reason why I like reading the better written trades of the big characters, because they usually wrap up in such way after a book or two that you can just walk away with a "finished" story.
