Yesterday on the show, they were discussing which Unmasked's would be played on Friday.
If you were picking, which would you choose?

Gallagher. He was a wreck and listening to Ron's frustration was priceless.

I havent heard very many and I really like the idea of running these in the best of slot. By the way does anyone know if there is going to be a dvd of these at all?

I just listened to the Janeane Garofalo Unmasked yesterday, and I was surprised at how good it was. It was one of my favorite Unmaskeds.

But my favorite was with Jeff Garlin, I believe. I really liked his insight and stories.

Norton, but maybe because I don't think I heard the whole thing.

I had completely forgotten about Jeff Garlin. Maybe someone should post a list of all the ones that have played so far?

they were all excellent -- except for robert klein, margaret cho (the former not really my cup of tea, and the latte was way too name droppy) and the bob saget show was just shit

Coincidentally, I've been catching up on the Unmaskeds I missed, and re-listening to the ones I've heard. I'm thinking about adding them to the file library. Anyway, here are the ones that have aired so far:

Bob Newhart
Bob Saget
Brian Regan
Carlos Mencia
David Brenner
Gallagher
George Carlin
Janeane Garafalo
Jeff Garlin
Jim Norton
Kids in the Hall
Lewis Black
Margaret Cho
Robert Klein
Susie Essman
Patrice O'Neal

Of course, the Jay Mohr one will air this weekend and Louis C.K. is being recorded tomorrow. I really liked the Bob Newhart, Brian Regan, David Brenner, Jeff Garlin, Jim Norton, Lewis Black, Susie Essman and Patrice O'Neal ones. Gallagher was a complete train wreck. The Kids in the Hall one was very funny, but completely outside of the Unmasked format. I saw the taping of the Jay Mohr one, and that one was great as well. It really is too bad that Ron didn't get to interview George Carlin, especially since Sonny Fox had already interviewed Carlin for Stand Up Sit Down. I think it would have been a more interesting interview, getting at a lot of areas that hadn't been covered many times before.

Since it is airing on 202 it might make the most sense to have Patrice, Norton and Regan air.

Though $10 says that I won't be able to listen since Audible will run a generic best of.

Ron said yesterday that those are the ones that will be airing tomorrow.

Newhart was really funny and interesting.

I felt that Norton and Patrice were also "best" eps...but there was the added attraction of getting another angle on comics i hear all the time, but have never heard interviewed.

Newhart would otherwise be my top pick; imo RB was positively Carsonesque!

I liked all the Curb eps, and agree w/other posters picking Garlin as standout-and that was imo another ep where RB was as good an interviewer as i've ever heard.

For worst: Klein was grumpy and dull, but some informative comedy history. Gallagher was unlistenable, not even worthwhile as cringe/sobaditsgood humor imo. i didn't dislike Cho as i had expected to, but definate one-trick-ponyitus

Ron definitly got inside of Jimmy and Patrice. Different from what you hear on O&A. If you haven't heard these yet, I'm sure you will enjoy. I haven't heard the Regan one yet, so I will be listening.

The Patrice unmasked was really good. Ron got Patrice to let out his personal views on everything. It didnt seem like Patrice said alot of those things out loud or in front of strangers.

I love that old bastard. Only one I've saved after listening (and actually e-mailed to a few friends).

I agree, Carlos is the best, I mean everyone rips him off; Sam Kinnison, Joe Rogan, Ari Shaffer, Bil Cosby, etc. They all stole from the best, Carlos Mencia.

Once Ronnie Unmasks Dice, all will be right in the universe.
This could be huge, dude.

The Regan one was much better.

I agree, Regan was much better.
Carlos made it seem like it was just doing the comedy math (Setup / Setup = Punch line X the callback.) I was surprised at how matter of fact and unfunny he was trying to be with Ronnie. He even said he was not funny off stage. A really odd approach, all business; Carlos struck me as a business man going to work on stage and saving the jokes for when people are paying - no freebees. Hey it’s his gig and he seems to be doing well. Not unfunny but not my cup of tea.

I agree. That is Carlos, he sees standup as an acting role. He admits it. He plays the part great, his delivery is what makes the jokes so funny. But, thats what makes me believe he does steal jokes, or atleast gets the idea and then changes it a little. He tells other people's jokes better than they do. But, he doesn't write funny jokes.
Carlos is like that first guy who won Last Comic Standing, the Asian guy. He wasn't funny, and he thought you could punch numbers into an algorithm and come up with a joke.

So far my favorite is Robert Klein. I dug the Rodney Dangerfield stories.
