Am i the only asshole that doesnt talk on the phone and drive at the same time?
Am i the only asshole that read the sign with the new law?

I work with somebody who's been ticketed 4 times, and still refuses to stop talking whilst driving. On top of that, as i drive home every night, everybody is talking and driving.

No, you're not the only one who doesn't talk on the phone while driving.
No, you're not the only one who read the sign with the new law.

The thing that irritates me most about the law is the lack of enforcement.

I've seen more than my share of drivers using the hand-held cell phones ... usually, I'm stuck behind them for several miles on the 'Pike. It stinks.

I don't think that the legislature thought the enforcement through when they passed the law.

Can't anyone do anything anymore without using a cell phone?

How long before they make water proof cell phones (if there is not one out already), you'll see people swimming in the swimming pools and beaches on their cell phone.

I got stuck behind a BUS that had the driver on the cell phone, not hands free mind you.

I don't even talk for more than 15 seconds using my hands free. I like to concentrate while driving.

I picked up a bluetooth to use while driving. (not for walking around the mall with:wallbash: )
Even still, I keep my calls short, because I am not paying 100% attention while driving. I gotta be on guard for those phonecall bastards.

I've driven with a cell phone for the last 15 years.

If you're a bad driver, you're a bad driver. I've never had an accident, been ticketed, or have even come close to getting in a bad situation because I've been on the phone.

My radio, however, is another story. It never fails, when I try to change the station or a cd, somebody pops up in front of me out of nowhere. It doesn't make sense.

If you're a bad driver, you're a bad driver.

This is so amazingly true.

If you can't talk on a cell phone without causing an accident, you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I bid on eBay while driving. Is that considered bad?:innocent:

aside from the potential for accidents, why would anyone want to talk on a cellphone while driving? for me, when i'm driving is a rare bit of personal time when i don't have to deal with mundane phone calls.

if i get a call while driving, the 5 second conversation is, "can't talk, i'm driving. i'll call you back in a little while."

Ebay motors?...for auto body parts?

Please, make more laws. I don't want to choose. I don't feel safe yet. Ban everything. It'll be better for us all in the long run.

what's worse, using a cell phone or operating an ipod while driving?

you know what i find to be most amusing?

use of cellphones for texting or speaking is against the law, which is understandable.

however, when you drive the Turnpike you get a tiny 2 inch by 4 inch ticket with microscopic letters and dollar amounts that you have to read while driving in order to have the proper amount ready for the toll.
(of course many people have EZPass now, but this ticket has been around for ages)

isn't this just as dangerous as speed dialing a phone number?

Seriously. I remember the first day of the ban, radio stations were claiming that "hundreds" (their exaggeration, not mine) of drivers were being pulled over for talking on the phone while driving. Since then, I've seen police drive past these drivers without a second look.

I understand that some people feel that they need to talk on the phone constantly, including while they are driving. What I don't understand is why people can't get a bluetooth device to do it.

People are constantly upgrading their cellphones to have the latest gadgets so I would guess that those that are addicted to their phones have phones that are bluetooth compatible.

Sure they look douchy in the mall or on the sidewalk, but in the car they work nicely.

Sounds like you need bifocals.

Or an E-Z Pass.

Got my first pair two weeks ago at 45  Though they are the "new" bifocals that transition and have no visible line.

I think we should be able to invent something so that when you see someone driving and talking on a cell phone, you can flip a switch that will cause their signal to be lost. I know they have the technology because some churches have a system that doesn't allow cell phone signals inside the buildings.

off topic but I feel the need to vent.

I would love to invent some kind of ray gun that would disable any radio I pointed it at. I am so tired of being stopped at a red light and having some "youngster" pull up next to me with their radio ridiculously loud.

yeah I know, if the music is too loud I am too old.

The problem is when the music is too loud and they have the windows rolled UP!

I was at a stop light last week and I started hearing the THUMPA THUMPA . It was so bass-ey that it was almost painful. I looked around and finally realized that it was coming from the car 2 cars behind me and yes we both had our windows up.

I can't imagine what it was like INSIDE his car. I do take a little solace knowing that he'll be deaf before too long.

Next time you pass a cop driving past you in the other direction take a look at him....There's a good chance he's talking on a cell phone and not wearing his seatbelt..

Talking on a cell phone is one thing..Everyone should be able to do that...BUT..

I'm the worst kind of driver..I read the paper in traffic..
I'll have an entire textversation while driving..I'll even read a whole 3 page thread on RF.net, then make a long ass post, while driving down Lenox ave..

I know I'm a danger to the community...But as long as you can still get blood and hair of your bumper with a garden hose and elbow greese, feel free to call or text me while I'm enroute..

Only if you're placing bids while going through the EZ Pass lane.
