Number 2 Pencils.

I just had an interesting thought pass through my mind few minutes ago....

I honestly can't remember the last time I used a no. 2 pencil. I found one here at work and when I went to use it, it felt like something from another world. Yes, I know writing is writing, but I'm so accustomed to using pens now that I forgot the feel of a pencil.


Anyone else ever thought of this before or am I just totally bored?

I find it weird whenever I actually have to "write" anything. Too much time on the ol' PC.

It's the whole sharpener thing that gets me too. I need my pen. I have like 10 of the same kind: Staples brand "delta elite". I knew I was old when I bought pen refills.

Anytime anyone comes in to my office asking if I have a pencil sharpener I answer "It's 2008."

Even those scantron test can be used with pen now.

Imagine how awesome a #3 pencil would be? Someone should invent one. You would probably be able to write on water.

I still use pencils for notes occasionally, but I use a Mechanical #2 pencil. Other than an "emergency" I don't think I have used a wooden or wood-like pencil in more than a decade.

I also use a keyboard way more than writing; I even take notes in MS Notepad rather than writing things down. The only caveat are phone messages, which I usually tend to wrinte down for some reason.

When I first entered the professional world I was using number 2 pencils with those big gummy erasers you buy to put over the eraser the pencil came with. I was trying to send faxes to my corporate office and they had to call me and tell me that you can't write faxes with pencils because it won't show up. I felt a little silly, especially when I looked at my pencil and saw that ridiculous gummy eraser on it (hot pink).

I use colored pencils every once in a while, but very rarely ever #2 pencils.

#2 pencils make me think of standardized tests and beginning penmanship when we used to use these...

I used to chew the shit out of #2 pencils..
They must have been delicious, because by the time I was done eating them, they looked llike they went through a wood chipper..

Now a days, everytime I see a #2 pencil, I have to put it between my fingers and snap it over my knee..
I'm convinced it makes me look like a bad ass..

Oh yeah! When I was in the fourth grade a future crack head (she's sober now) named Latanya Simmons stabbed me in the arm with one of these deadly weapons..
Even back then I could piss someone off to the point of violence..

To this day I still have the point of that pencil lodged in the crook of my right arm as an ugly reminder that breaking up with a black girl is gonna leave a mark..Unless you're cheating, then it's gonna leave a sucking chest wound..

#3 are more magical then #2 because when your left-handed like me, #2 just smears....#3 literally disappears as i write...magic f-in numbered pencils pissin me off:wallbash:

I use pencils on occasion. I do love the sound a pencil makes when you write with them. I've sent faxes in pencil and they came out fine.

I always have a couple of them handy at my desk. Some things I do at my comp are easier if I can erase stuff. I do have a nice mechanical one, but I always break the lead too easily.

Aw, I just remembered I had a gummy eraser with a smiley face just like that when I was younger. Coincidence!

And maybe it was the fax machine my company gave me that wouldn't pick up pencil in the faxes I was sending? Either way, I felt silly.
