How much money would you want to observe another faith once a week for a year? You have to go to their service once a week and participate while you are there then you get paid. During the year you can't go to your religious services or pray to your "God".

I checked 1 Million dollars, but that would be to practice any religion. I might give my own a slight discount to get me showin up, maybe like 500Gs

That's a great point... I got tricked into going to church with my mother on a Saturday (did NOT see that coming!) and it was PAINFUL!!! (Raised Lutheran, but I am an agnostic, no need for me to be in a church, EVER.)

I say from now on I need an appearance fee of 1,000 every time I go to church. If I am expected to sing and recite the responses with the congregation (I fucking HATE that), bump it up to 10,000. Pretend to enjoy it completely without sarcasm and "air quotes", one million dollars. BAM! Take that mom!

I hear so many different definitions for agnostic. Basically, I believe there is a god, and thats about it. I believe the religions are just bullshit stories made up a long time ago to keep poor people and servants from just saying fuck it and killing themselves cause they had nothing to live for.

I had a friend who had converted to being a Sikh. (I think her given name was Laurie Jean. She grew up in NJ) I'm not sure when she converted but her new name is Ajeet, and still goes by it to this day.

We worked at the same store during the 90s and she turned me on to Kundalini yoga. I took lessons with her for a long time. She invited me to many Sikh services, which I went to.

I haven't practiced my religion or any other religion in over 30 plus years. So, if you count my experience with the Sikhs, I'd say I'm in the red spiritually.

Fun Fact: Ajeet used to be the OFFICIAL Kermit the Frog as sanctioned by the Henson Corporation when the Muppets (tm) did public appearances. She had been all over the world.

EDIT: I worked with another woman who tried to turn me onto a bastardized version of what had been known as EST. I eventually crumbled and went to a meeting. They found fault that I didn't want to wear a name tag and, in front of my friend from work, asked me to leave.

Or to keep them in line and control the power and wealth.

I don't believe in God, but I don't rule out the possibility of a Supreme Being of some kind. I guess that's the most common definition of agnosticism.

being paid would be great! any amount!

but this would actually probably be a pretty interesting learning experience for just about anyone.

we get so caught up in our own religions or lack thereof that we never take the time to really learn about the inner workings of other faiths. instead, taking them at face value or stereotypes.

EST isn't a religion or a cult, it's a scam perpetrated on the weak minded and you should be happy you were asked to leave, because it saved you the energy from having to make a scene an hour later.

They're losers.

She brow beat me so I went. I just wanted to sit there and get it over with. Refusing to wear a name tag became a big problem and they took me into a separate room and brow beat me in front of my friend from work.

When I eventually decided to leave, my friend hugged me, "I love you and just wanted to introduce you to something new."

She never brought it up again.

Fuckin' SCAM!

I would have said any amount, but the last church I belonged to kind of opened my eyes...

...we were literally seconds away from a full blown holy war.

agnostic = not sure if there is a god or not.

atheistic = definitely sure there is no god

snoogans is probably looking for some watchmaker analogy of a supreme being, where a watchmaker puts together this complex piece of machinery but then doesn't follow its day-to-day workings. after it's built it's not his concern.
