I am looking to buy a new couch, and i figured this weekend would be a good one with the 4th of July sales going on. i want an L shape sectional couch, but do not want to spend an insane amount of money.

any suggestions on a place to go in north jersey to look?

also looking for an entertainment center, so any suggestions on that would be great

This one behind the Shop Rite doesn't have a lot of hobo pee on it. Maybe you should check it out.

There's a bunch of places on Rt 1 in the Linden/Rahway area that are good. They have tons of choices and pretty good prices. Check em out...They keep changing their names over the past few years...so I don't know the name of the joint I got mine at... Just take a ride on Rt 1 North in Linden...You'll find somethin.

Unclaimed Freight in Somerset.

My friend and I both got couches from here and they were inexpensive and really comfortable. We were both pretty happy with our purchases. They might not last you an eternity, and they're certainly not anything from Ethan Allen or something, but if you're looking for something neutral and comfortable, you might want to try checking there.

I had a good experience with Bob's (http://www.mybobs.com/default.asp) when we bought a table and chairs recently. Of course I don't buy furniture that often so I can't be sure if my good experience was the norm or an aberration. Check the site, you can even shop on-line and avoid the traffic.

EDIT: I'm way too fucking slooooooow.

How about Ashley (http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom/Showroom.aspx?PageId=Showroom&CategoryID=7&SetDomTab=1&PageNumber=1&IsClicked=1)? We shopped there too and it seemed pretty good. They're all over Jersey too.

I got my new furniture from Thomasville on Route 1 in Edison (behind Jose Tejas). They had good deals and the no interest no payments until 2010 at the time.

Bob's i hated the salesmen were so pushy and annoying and would not leave me alone when I was shopping for a couch and dining room table.

I suggest Raymour and Flanigan that is where I got mine. I got 12 months no interest and the couch may be the most comfortable thing I own.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We bought couches from there and resold them after 4 months. I swear to god they have different couches in the showroom. Most uncomfortable couches ever. My sister had the same experience and I didn't listen to her.

They were so uncomfortable, I think we took like a $400 hit to get new ones.

We ended up going to a Raymour and Flannigan outlet - I highly recommend them if you have one near you, good prices and solid, comfy furniture. Tons of sectionals as well.

FUCK YOU BOB AND YOUR FREE CANDY.

Bob's couches are hideous... I love the commercial where they're showing all the recliners and none of them look comfortable or like anything I would ever want in my home.

We bought ours over Mem Day Weekend, and I think they were doing 10% off under $1k, 15% off $1-2k, and 20% off over $2k.

Not only were our couches from Bob's uncomfortable, if you put the slightest amount of pressure on the arm part, it would collapse, because the inside was basically cardboard with an air packet inside.

You should be proud of yourself. Not only did you get the NCHCH, but you also got the very rare "topping the top of the comedy pyramid". Chris CRUSHED that one, and your ottoman comment literally had me laughing out loud at work. Good show. Good show indeed.

personally I like their stuff, but I also can't afford a 2500-4000 bucks for a sectional...

so it really depends what your budget is as well.

If they have financing, the pay nothing until kind of deal then go for it and make smaller payments... build some credit while ya at it (if you need building...lol)

I miss Germany for that.... just discussed couches with my mom this weekend cause they just all order stuff in catalogues and it is dirt cheap compared to here.
Most young people buy new stuff every 3 years like a car almost... older ones have their furniture for life

If I was to order anything online here I would pay an arm and a leg in shipping alone.

Bump. Liz and I looked at Ashley, Bob's, and R&F. We also went with Raymour and Flanigan for our couches. Their special this weekend was a free TV console, which we needed, so it worked out well.

We also bought kitchen stuff from Ashley; we're happy with the quality of the furniture, although it's a little bigger than we expected once we got it in the room.

i think i am going to go this weekend and look at Ashley and Raymour & Flanigan upon the recommendation of this thread.

I don't want to spend toooo much money.... but I also don't have a big living room so I am thinking a nice love seat possibly with ottoman or a recliner would be nice
i will be excited to get a couch and spend more time in the living room!

so i STILL haven't gone to get a couch yet.
the fact that I am moving in less than a year was hindering me but I don't want to gaze at my lovely Christmas Tree from the Most Uncomfortable Couch In The World... so I think I am just going tomorrow to get a cheap-ish loveseat or something.

Any suggestions? Does Ashley have good (low) prices?

Does anyone just want to GIVE me their couch? :p
