I got a rental car for the next few days so I won't have my xm unit in the car.
I noticed it is equipped with sirius, but what the hell should I listen to on sirius??? I hear their music channels are better. How much truth is there to that?

Just wait, come Monday I am a Stern convert :yech:

You said it yourself, just listen to the music. I'm curious to see if their music stations are better so your assignment is to report back in a few days with your findings.

Thanks in advance.

I had a rental car on a business trip a few years ago with Sirius & LOVED the music channels for the first few days. But by the end of the week I spent away from home I already started hearing repeats & patterns at the same time of the day, etc.

It was nice for a few days, but the novelty of hearing "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats & "Round & Round" by Ratt goes away quickly when you hear it for the third time in a week & remember that although they bring back happy memories of long ago, in reality they don't hold up enough musically to want to hear them in regular 'rotation' on a music station.

Once I finally learned how to use the alerts on my XM unit/widget, I realized XM's music wasn't as bad as I originally thought, I just had bad timing in finding the music I was looking for.

Pray that the merger finalizes in the next hour or so.

Put sugar in the gas tank , take the car back , and tell em to give you one with XM.

The Bruer show is hit or miss, but funny.

Basically what I was gonna say.

It's not that their music stations are better, it's just that their playlists are more like terrestrial radio, which, for whatever reason, people seem to like.

I disagree, as subscriber to both services I like the diversity on Sirius's music channels to be better than XM's. I think from a business standpoint it makes more sense to have some mainstream music mixed in with material that otherwise wouldn't get airplay on terrestrial radio. I find a much better mix of that on Sirius, and I think their music selections are more thought out than XM. Don't get me wrong I love XM and their music channels, but I do find myself lingering longer on Sirirus stations than I do XM.

I agree. I'm not saying that mainstream equals bad.

In my limited exposure to Sirius, I've taken four 8+ hour trips with my uncle, who has Sirius.
I'm just saying I heard a hell of a lot of repeats during that time.

I haven't heard as much on XM.
That's all I was trying to say.

You're probably right, I haven't listened to either service for long long periods of time so I can't speak for the repeats on Sirius.
