I've had this on my Ipod for a while and just started listening to it and it's really friggin awesome. You kind of get a feeling that Ron was a legend in Florida radio and it's definitely worth a listen. It's a two hour show I've listened to the first hour so far.

Link (http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/wsun/wsunron.mp3)

There's some clips of fez on the same website but I haven't heard those yet.

The website is boblassiterairchecks.com by the way. There is a search function so if you punch in "fez" there are three or four clips. I haven't listened yet but will report back once I have.

I lived in FLA when Ron and Ron started. They owned the market – 9 million listeners at one time and heard throughout the state. Everyone was saying SEEYA! Their live gigs sold out in hours and they had to add shows. When Ronnie opened for Carlin they were there to see Ron as much as George. It was huge! Easily as big as O&A

Didn't they mention Cleveland Wheeler at Fez's parents 50th wedding anniversary party?

What a great site that Bob Lassiter site is. Bob was a great voice and damn, we could use a mind like his these days. What a great broadcaster!

Well, if it's the era I'm thinking of, he was pretty much in his 20's. Trust me... Coming from someone who close to the same age as him, there's a big difference.

This proves Ron does all the voices on the show. If Ron can do a 'Ron on a constant supply of helium voice' he can do any voice he wants.

edit: was that radio shark calling in at 19:30????

The Ron clip is from May 19 1995 (He sounds like Kinison a few times during the show). The Fez clips are all from 1989. Amazing stuff!

I was also checking out the Ron and Ron website (http://www.ronandron.com/index.html) recently. It's a great site. I recommend a visit if you haven't done so. It's amazing that a site for a show that's been off the air for almost ten years still gets people posting on the message board. They really must have been huge back then.

I doubt that's the Fez we know. Lassiter used to have an intern named Fez, who basically parodied Fez Whatley. In 1989, Ron & Ron were on WYNF and Lassiter was on WFLA. They didn't work together until around 1994 when they were on WSUN.

Yeah that's right. The person in the clips isn't Fez it's "Fez"

Two of the clips say it's "Fez Whatley" calling in. They mention that he's involved with wrestling in one of the clips. The Fez 'voice' is kind of there, but it could be an impostor. I don't know what Fez sounded like in 1989. If Fez was a known character in the area, why would Lassiter have a parody of the character using the same name? Wouldn't they change the name a bit to punch up the parody angle? You gotta listen to the clips. The one from March 17 1989 has Fez call in at around the 4:00 mark.

They were competing shows back then. Ron & Ron were doing mornings on the FM side, while Lassiter was doing mornings on AM.

So both shows had a Fez Whatley? Why wouldn't Lassiter's character be Faz Whetley or something like that? That's usually how they do it on competing shows.

Actually, I'm listening to one of the other airchecks where "Fez" is in studio and he is referred to as a Fez Whatley impostor in the clip description. They even start calling him "Spaz" Whatley, and there's a lot of wrestling talk (mainly about big sweaty men grappling). I guess it's not really Fez. Rats! I would love to hear bits from him from the 80s. The Ron & Ron Site does have clips of the nature boy from the 90s. They also have a cd of Nature boy bits that you can buy. Is it possible that some of those are from the late 80s?

Listen to the tribute that I posted earlier in this thread. Ron mentions that Lassiter would name his interns Fez.

This is great. I love Ron doing the "I'm sick and I'm in the process of dying" bit, even 13 years ago. He's got walking ebola, but he's laughing and smiling all the way through it.

EDIT:

Caller: Ron, Ron Diaz is lucky to have a friend like you

Ron: Well I stole a lot of money from him...

I'm listening to this again. His voice sorta returns something close to normal around an hour in--or maybe that's how long it takes to get used to it.

At the one hour mark he tells Lassiter to get out (of his own show...)

I think I have that on my hard drive somewhere. Let me see if I can find it.

Edit: it may just be Fez in the studio with them.
