insurance companies are the scum of the earth!!! they love taking the monthly premium payments, and then do everything they can to avoid paying out on claims!

they're also the ones behind smoking bans, trans-fat bans, seat belt laws, helmet laws, and a host of other restrictions that are passed in the guise of 'protecting the public'. :furious::furious::furious:

Yes, insurance companies are the pits. It's the only business I know of that you pay them for something you hope you never have to use (car insurance, house insurance, etc.).

That said, the government isn't innocent in all this either. While they are busy worrying about flag burning and gay marriage and Terry Schiavo, they could be drafting real legislation that could actually help people.

It seems like every law is made to protect the corporations. My company pays for life insurance polices for employees & their children, however I still have outside life insurance policies because of situations just like the one in the article. I work with someone who was fired from his previous employer a month after his wife, who was on his medical insurance, found out she had cancer...he had worked there for over 15 years and had been a model employee. There is no recourse for the little guy in this world, it's all about companies making money.

"Dying of cancer, Thomas Amschwand did everything he was told to make sure his wife would collect on the life insurance policy he had through his employer."

How funny would it be if that was the Tom for "Is Tom Still Alive" from the Opie and Anthony show.
