We're now more then halfway through 2008. Today = day 192, 174 left.
2009 stares down at us and holy shit were almost a decade into a new century. Wasnt Y2K a couple hours ago?
I take a look at myself and how things are in my life/family/friends/job at Mid-Year, just like many do at New Years... I dont do resolution shit, just a self-examination: step outside myself and ask, how is that guy doing? How is the creature that inhabits my body? How is the brain?
Did you meet goals set for 2008? Did you accomplish what you wanted this year? Are your realtionships with family, friends good/bad/whocares...
Job better/worse/still a living hell?
Doing better then this time at beginning of year? Worse? Feeling pretty much the same like me? Financial goals met or lost?
That weight you wanted to lose? Well, I sure didn't. And still a moody fuck often.

it seems like the older i get the shorter a week, month, year seem....i know thats no uncommon phenomenon, but it does make me realize how important it is to set strict goals with very specific check points and time restrictions...and to reset goals based on how the achievement of the previous goal went....if i dont do that, my goals will always turn into, "ill get around to that" but then a year goes by and it still hasnt been achieved...
as for me i have found out more about myself in the past 7 months then i think i have my entire life...i really like ur idea of looking at yourself as if your not you and deciding what you think....i need to consider that the next time i think about my goals and such....YOWZA!!!

i have to say 2008 is shaping up to be an excellent year. my job is going really well, and by the end of the year i should be in line for the promtion i want and a nice raise. got a nice new car, got a sweet new apartment. money in the bank. the only small issue is the amount of money i have lost in the stock market due to stupid bets. but i am going to try to be in the black by the end of the year.

Nice I fucked up my first thread title.
Are You? was supposed to be How are You?
But I like it. Not that it matters; these sucky threads die hard and fast, unlike John McClane.
I'm half gone; this year I'm 45. No way do I have more days ahead then behind. 90 aint happening here.

Same here. At 46, I've accepted I'm more than half done, now I'm just hoping that I'm not 90% done (or worse). :glurps:

This has probably been the worst year of my life. Got very sick. Had to leave my job because of it. Got my gf pregnant. She lost the baby when one of her students punched her in the belly. Ended up breaking up. Have no money and had to move in with my brother. Doing odd jobs and still can't find a steady one.

I concur with Hippie. 2008 can't fucking end fast enough far as I'm concerned. I'm not for listing my woes again, there was a thread or two already and they're pretty trivial compared to some of the real problems people here are going thru, but I'm still bummed by 'em as is.
I met some priorities as a student but still have yet to feel satisfied by any of the shit i've done- don't know if I ever will either. I'm starting to wonder if contentment isn't just a bullshit concept to get the hamsters to chase the cheese bit in the wheel. All I know is my back is starting to ache alot more often than it used to...
All the old men in my family are in their 90's. They also have full heads of hair. I've got a nice bald patch starting up. W00t.

The year started out AWFUL for me...just about as bad as ive ever been
But in May i met a beautiful girl i fell in love with and i love spending time with. And even tho I messed up my car recently, its gonna get fixed and i should be able to get a better job soon hopefully
So i would say this year's been a "plus"

I think when the New Year's Resolution thread for this year went up I said I wanted to continue to lose weight (check), get a better job (not quite yet but i have two promising interviews next week), and find a nice girl to settle down with (sadly, nothing yet). So I'm 1 for 3, currently batting .333 and going to the 2008 Hall Of Fame with those numbers.

Meh.
I'm trying really really hard to keep debt free, but... Tough times.
I'm cutting back on lots of stuff for me. But The Boys still get what they need. I guess that's what is most important. Sean is hosting at pizza party at the swim club tomorrow.
The mortgage is due tomorrow. (don't ask) The cell bill will have to wait.
My cholesterol is down. My gums are looking alot better. I look GREAT for my age. I'm taking the family on a beach vacation in 2 weeks. No signs of E.D. for me. My hair is spectacular. My lawn isn't dead yet.

2007 was probably one of my worst years in while. 2008 has been great for me. Almost every aspect of my life has changed for the better. Thanks for asking!

2007 was great for me, and so far, 2008 has been awesome.
Graduated from Swedish Institute and became licensed in massage therapy, maintained friendships with some great people, lost some more weight, got a great job where i only have to walk a few blocks, been able to pay some bills and still have a little in the bank, and have had smooth sailing wedding planning.
still to work on for '08: making more $ to help get my credit card & student loan bills down, build up my own massage practice outside of the spa, drop a few more pounds.

2008 roughed me up quite a bit.
I intended to lose 50-60 lbs. and found about 70 lbs. in the wake of that failure.
My kids are healthy, and things are much better at work than in previous years.
Certainly not "2000 Great"...but possibly 2000 better.

Decent year so far for me.
my job's nothing special, but it pays the bills and leaves me well in the black at the end of each month.
friends and family are all healthy. my brother's wife just gave birth to their second child a few weeks ago.
my 13 year old car continues to run well with no major repairs needed.
went to my first rf.net event earlier in the year (the baby shower) and met some of you nice folks.
all in all, there are lots of people in worse situations than i am, so i can't complain.

Today is the first day of the rest of the 4 years, 5 months, 20 days until Mayan Gods beat up Jesus with a giant, stone calendar.

Unemployed, but suprisingly not really depressed. Aside from the fact that I'm 32 years old, and I still have no idea whatsoever what I want to do with the rest of my life as far as a career.
I guess "gray" would be a good description of how I am so far in 2008.

No job, meaning I am broke.
My car broke down and I don't have the moeny to fix it.
College blows and I'm just lost with what I should be doing with my life.
I just got dumped.
I don't sleep much.
I've been having pain on and off in my right leg due to my diesease.
2008 started out with promise, and now it's going to hell.
Can't wait for 2012.

Half of 2008 is gone and I am one step closer to 30.
I may not have a job next year but MAYBE I will... my boss is trying to create an additional position for me but won't promise.
I was fine with turning 30 until my boss told me that this is where it goes downhill. Really??? great, looking forward to the second half of this year then.
Relationships are as confusing and mind numbing as ever... I may be in one but MAYBE I am not.... men confuse me and I don't play well with the big boys...
All in all at the middle of 2008 I am in a similar slump as I was at the beginning of it...
since that does not seem to change I call for lots of alcohol and silly message board posting... kind of therapeutic.

I'm know what I want to do with my life but it's just hard to actually realize it right now, though I'm trying.
I'm back with my gf. It just kinda resolved itself.
I still don't sleep much, but I'm trying to make the most of being awake.
My leg still hurts, but I'm not letting it stop me from living.
2008 started out with promise, hit a real sucky patch, but I'm trying my best to make it even better in the homestretch.

08, well I'm doing some of the things I wanted to do. Some unexpected things have called for some creative thinking but all in all things are working out well.
One big downer is the ridiculous increase of everything this year.

Job's better and my son was born this year. There've been shitty things too but overall, '08 is another year on the plus side of things in terms of life.
I'm noticing that I'm getting better at keeping shit situations at bay and working on the solution long enough so that things turn around. I'm scheduled to start taking college classes again in the fall though my initial choice was a 400 level engineering course... I thought it was 100 level. Maybe I'll just brush up on some Spanish.
