Our economy has weathered the cost of the Iraq war, High energy prices, the credit crunch, the collapse of Bear Stearns but this might be the final nail in the coffin. These 2 companies hold alot of the mortgage debt. During this week both companies have suffered huge losses and its not looking good at all

this will cripple to economy if it spins out of control. the Feds will be walking a tight line with this one.

they secure over 1/2 of the nations mortgages. if credit institutions cut them off from having the ability to borrow money, you have not even seen the begging of what a shit storm this housing market is going to be become.

i just picked up some shares of fannie about an hour ago. it was down 31% on the day when i grabbed it. i am hoping it goes back up to its opening bell price and i will dump it. i think this was all a speculative sell-off based on panic.

Freddie Mac is right across the street from my condo. The good news would be less traffic at rush hour.

on the same note, Indy Mac has closed it's doors as federal regulators came in to take control
