First, let me say this is pretty ridiculous, and I seriously doubt anything will come of it.

This is actually an old story, and came up earlier this year during the primaries, and then died, but is now back with this lawsuit.

As the story goes:
-McCain was born in the Canal Zone in Panama. Both his parents are American.
-McCain was born in 1936. A law was passed in 1937 granting citizenship and all rights that go with it to children born to an American parent in the Canal Zone.
-McCain was granted retroactive citizenship, but the argument is that since he was born in 1936, before citizenship was bestowed upon people born there, he is not a 'natural' born citizen (the Congressional text of qualification for President), and only became a citizen by order of Congress.

I think Congress already approved McCain's candidacy to head off this sort of thing. The Canal was basically American soil anyway.

They passed a non-binding resolution, so it's essentially meaningless.

The point of the lawsuit I believe is to get the candidacy declared unconstitutional. It's got no shot, but it's kind of funny that someone's in court arguing that John McCain, of all people, isn't a real citizen.
