dumb-ass names

my wife visits a few mommy and mommy-to-be boards and people often post ideas for baby names. when did it become common for everyone to attempt to out-unique each other with the dumb-ass names (or retarded spelling) they want to use for their poor progeny? one mouth-breather is having twin girls and wants to saddle them for life with monikers from the following list:

Erynn Archer and Brynn Desirn
Maddey Shay and Mackenzey Dana
Bridgyt Anna and Blayke Hannah
Emilee Rose and Juleea Claire (Julia)
Clayre Samantha and Olyvia Elizabeth

first 9 of the 20 names have a "y" in them (usually for absolutely no reason). second, what's a "desirn"?? third, emilee rose is destined to be a stripper/porn actress (hey, not everyone's a star) so i'm really pulling for that one. here's a fun site (http://notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/index.html) that she says bashes these morons.

I went with adding "General" to the beginning of my son's name before he was born.

You'll get killed listening to "General Dylan" - I'll refrain from inserting the rest of my nephews' names - whom I love dearly. I mostly call them buddy or pal.

The ONLY celebrity who could get away with naming his kids oddball names was Frank Zappa.

About 13 years ago I met a woman who named her son Atticus. She was a "life coach" and an obnoxious person too. I wanted to punch her in the throat.
