View Full Version : Is this the new urban fashion trend?

So, I'm at the grocery store about a week ago when I pass this African-American chap. At first gance I think that he is sporting some dreadlocks. However, upon further inspection I realize that he is wearing a pair of black pantyhose on his head. The waistband is on his forehead and he's wearing the ass section like a skullcap. I could see the reinforced crotch section along the top of his head like some panty-liner mohawk. Meanwhile the two pantyhose legs are just dangling down to the middle of his back.

My initial reaction is: "Well, this is just a crazy-man." I decided to put as much distance between him and my kids before he decided to go postal in the middle of the Pathmark.

Today I'm at the Costco, picking up some cook-out supplies, when I happen upon a completely different "urban youth" who is wearing the very same manner of headgear as what I'd previously come to refer to as "The Pathmark Nut-Job". Now, I admit that I spend a lot of my time in the wilds of suburbia. Have I missed this trend until now or are we on the cusp of a new trend? Is this the new crazy-stupid fashion trend - like wearing the baggy pants that fall down to the mid-thigh area?

Please, someone inform the clueless white-guy!

I have never seen it, but I'd say they are ready to rob a bank at any given time.

I still can't believe you people shop at Pathmark.

I lived in White Plains and every time I set foot in there I smelled vomit and hydrogenated oils.

I haven't seen anyone do this in about 15 years. People used to do it in order to "train" their hair. This way it wouldn't afro out, but just kinda flow.

I think what these "gentlemen" are wearing on top of their heads may be the least of your worries.

Yeah I've seen that, though definitely not in recent years. Maybe 4-5 years ago I was seeing it much more often - perhaps its making a comeback.

Where these folks also wearing fleece winter and bomber jackets? I'll never understand that look when people do that in the middle of the summer.

I don't live that far from where a housing project is and I can say I have never seen anybody wearing pantyhose on their head. I'm actually hoping now that I do.

Perhaps they have converted to Judaism & are using that crotch panel as a yarmulka...so instead of a doo rag, it's a Jew rag!!!
