I was listening to 101.9 on my way to work today and they played a great ska tune. They said it was a local band (NYC area) and Vampire (or Vampire Weekend?) was in the name of the band or the song (I wasn't paying attention to the radio since I was trying to make a laft turn).
Anyone know what band this is or what song they might have played?

Vampire Weekend is a band.
They make a noise...it could be them.

I don't think Vampire Weekend would be classified as ska though.
I do love how they were named the "whitest band" by stuff that white people like.

I liked the second song and the video for it was pretty cool.
I didn't like the first song so much.

I could see how you might think Vampire Weekend is ska, and they're definately getting radio play right now. They sound way more like the Police to me, and the new wave vibe is there.
I can sendspace this album later, if you want it.

Yeah I thought they had a little bit of a Police thing going on too (if The Police played faster). It definitely reminded me of 80s bands like English Beat and The Specials.
