That whole tone today with ESD & HTG about the "Midwest" pissed me off today. It's really best that I got a call at work while that was happening to distract me.

Honestly, listening to them talk about the midwest like we're somehow dumb as mud.

I've spent limited time in Sioux City. Gambling with the illegal Vietnamese on riverboats. Milling about in a town where everybody better know their place. Ahhh what fun.

I really think we've been given a choice between an open faced shit sandwich and shit-on-a-roll though.

That's a tough call. The Iowa is definitely more famous, but it has the blemish of having the turret explosion in 1989, in which a deceased sailor was railroaded by the Navy when they accused him of sabotaging it because they thought he was gay. Though I do have a soft spot for it, since I used to see it every day when I was stationed in Norfolk.

The New Jersey is the most decorated battleship in the world, so I'm going to have to give my vote to New Jersey.

You were talking about ships, right?

Central Iowa checking in here. we have our ups and downs. we are or at least were a major area for meth, we have all the chemicals easily on hand to cook it. cigarettes are only about 4 or 5 bucks name brand which is cheap nowadays. we are on the lower end for gas prices. i know i haven't paid 4 bucks a gallon yet. it is a hilly fucking state which hurts gas mileage and it can get hot and very humid. never been to jersey though.

This just reinforces the stereotype of the dumb people from NJ.

However the Mayor of Belmar may be on to something

Excerpt from Mayor's Blog
On Staten Island girls behaving badly:

The spat ended the way most fights with SI girls do. The SI woman grabbed the Boonton woman by the hair (we're told that in Staten Island, this is the female equivalent of a guy kicking another guy in the groin only without the warm and friendly connotations), and began punching her face in. We realize, so far, this is not exactly newsworthy. Journalistically speaking, ``SI woman punches other woman'' is right up there with ``Dog bites man.'' But here's the twist: As the Staten Island girl was pummeling the Boonton girl's face, she used the hand she was still holding her drink glass in. Now, we're not sure if the glass was stuck to her hand cause of all the hair spray or if this is a technique Staten Island girls learn in Brownies, but we are thankful she left her brass knuckles and straight razor in her other purse. Anyway, after the blood was all mopped up and the Staten Island girl was carted off in handcuffs, the police got around to asking her why she tried to smash the Boonton woman's face in with the glass. Her answer was so obvious, the cops must have felt dumb for even asking: ``. . .'cause she got in my face.''

[QUOTE=keithy_19;1800865]Now to be serious here, if you want to see the ocean, you can go to the jersey shore. If you want to go to a college town, go to New Brunswick and Princeton. If you want to go to the mountains, well Jersey's got em'.

Fact!

Rutgers and Princeton aside, I defy someone to have a jersey tomato and say its not delicious. I know its in the Iowa wheelhouse but we have corn too which is also phenomenal.

Ive never really had this much jersey pride until now, but according to a som' bitch named benny franklin we're the keg tapped on both ends. Plus jay mohr is a verona guy, so thats not too bad either.

Who gave us the better President?

Iowa gave us Herbert Hoover

New Jersey gave us Grover Cleveland

I believe Hoover was corrupt as all hell...and Cleveland? What a beard.

Case closed.

I was born and raised in NJ, i currently live in South Florida for school. When it's over, i will return to Jersey.

I have a Yankees avatar because I have no Major League baseball team in Jersey to root for. By that logic you should criticize all Giants and Jets fans from NY, giving that their teams play in Jersey. Regardless, we'll save the sports talk for other threads.

And there's no chance of you getting you 2 HHH points back, unless you admit that Manny blows Big Papi's little wee wee.

And most importantly, New Jersey helped America get it's independance. Fuck off Iowa.

Something tells me, the list of what Iowa has not subjected/contributed to the world is rather long. Now whether that is positive or negative is up for debate on a case by case basis.

You have had your share of debate lately too. So you've got that going for you.
