Congrats to whomever is now in charge of the XM pad data display. It's constantly changing and updating; and the descriptions are simple and right on the mark. Unlike the old days when Earl the Turtle was handling it...

I would prefer if they just did Pad Data like O&A. Keep it simple, it's easier to fast forward and rewind. I don't understand why R&F's data reads as the data for a previous commercial for 5 minutes into the show.

i'd assume that nowadays, people don't travel with their cd collections.

as out-of-date as it is, a tape-deck is much more useful than a cd player in a car. at least you can use a converter with an audo jack to play your mp3 player through the tape deck (like i do in my own car, btw)

The pad data got better because we, as fans voiced our concerns and unhappiness with the poor quality.... Cast from the show read it and changed it accordingly.

I say we all finally get together and bitch about Earls incompetence...

...yeah, the commercial listings still lag behind. But in terms of the show content, during any given period where the conversation is bouncing around from topic to topic, I've noticed that the info is keeping right up and changing. And I've been informed that it's Hicks who's now behind the keyboard and is responsible for the improvement... I say well done, Hicks!

You should feel like that all the time.

Just kidding yo; I like Earl.

Au contraire, mon cherie! I love Earl on the radio - just not when he has to perform a function on a competent level.

Seriously, the entire Earl experience is just about one of the most entertaining things on the show. Having followed his (de)evolution since the early days at NEW on O+A, there's nothing better than listening to his stuttering and stammering trials and tribulations, as this poor sad sack shuffles through life (and rubs Ronnie the wrong way). His underdog persona is endearing, and I was genuinely saddened the one time he announced he was leaving the show for the good of all (before he came to his senses and realized what he was throwing away).

He's an intelligent guy (aside from the total religious indoctrination and his bubbling-just-below-the-surface racism) who appreciates creativity in music and the arts... I just think it would do him a world of good if he could let go the reins a bit and loosen up - smoke a joint, get high, or get drunk....

Rest assured. You are the only fan who likes Earl. I use the word "fan" loosely, for anyone who supports someone, Earl, that hurts the show can not truly be a fan.

Also, can't they fix the problem that when I record the show the pad data does not change during the show only the for the commercials. It changed when I had an Xm2go, the predecessor to the Inno. Now, with the Inno I can fast forward but it records in hour or more blocks.

A little off topic BUT what ever happened to producing for the show?
How hard can it be to type the pad data regularly?
How about grabbing so songs when Ronnie references them and use them as beds?
All the bits seem to dead end after a couple of times at most.Noone seems to bring much to the program. Ronnie always seems open to offering people a chance yet none steps up until Ron puts the boots to them. Earl was compelled to write a song and we got that Jets song then never followed up with a thing again. The midnight Rider was a great sustained bit but he rode away at least a year ago.
What exactly do the people who work for the show or interns do before, during and after the noon -2:45?Not show prep or creating or sustaining anything. Maybe someone grabs a list off the internet to discuss. Thats seems about it.Fez comes up with a few things but it does not appear that much else is done by anyone else

I hate to be a big complainer but if people who worked for me did the amount of work at my office that appears to go into this 3 hour show I would not employ anyone. The radio industry is a rapidly consolidating industry with limited jobs and the people who have them don't seem to expend much effort here.
I love this show, but sometimes I wonder if anyone one on the show cares as much about it as us the listeners.

Another question is why does the replay PAD data not change? I cant listen during the day, so I record the replay overnight and listen on my bike ride into work in the mornings. The replay always only says "Wednesday replay" or even worse it will say "Best of" everyday of the week.

Frustrating.

I don't think they can actually save the pad data. That, or it would just be too much to deal with.

Do I have a different membership to this board then you and many others? Do you have to pay for every word you post?

"Ewww?" What?

"Really?" I'd like would like to say "yes", since I typed it. But, I don't know what the question is.

Something tells me if I mined your posts I would find plenty of gems, sparkling with idiocy. Maybe you better play it safe and stick with "Ewwwww."
But, I do sincerely thank you for a response with content beyond, "boo", "that sucks", "Uhhh."

That's a cute deflection. Do you care to defend your point? Let's recap.
You said you can't be a fan and like Earl.
I said that was stupid.

This is the part where you come in and tell me why it's not.

The fact that he likes The Eagles ruins any appreciation I might have for his tastes in the arts.

Oh no, next there will be a straw man. It was not a deflection. You did not say it "was stupid."
You said it may be the dumbest thing you have read. Now, there is no easy way for me to prove it is not the dumbest thing you have ever read. Nevertheless, I feel confident that it is not the dumbest thing you have read.
If you insist on pressing the point, I will have to demand a list of everything you have every read, I will guess heavy on the comics and light on the classic literature. Upon receiving aforementioned list, I will peruse it for something that could possibly be dumber than my statement.
Deflect, Deflect,Deflect.
On the other hand, you could accept it as an off-hand comment meant as an insult to Earl.

Serpico is probably right. Obviously, taking up for Earl makes me the kind of pathetic shaved circus ape who couldn't possibly hope to appreciate the rest of the show. It takes a highbrow listener with a subtle sense of humor to understand something like Fucktwat the Clown, after all.

I'm just sad to have to find out now that I can never even come close to my lifelong dream of one day becoming the #1 Ron and Fez fan. After all, Serpico is such a true fan that he occupies spots 1-20. What is there for me now?

Are...are you sure? Serpico seemed so confident that he's a bigger fan than anybody out there. Now that you mention it, though, Ron does mention Mikeyboy on the air a lot more than he mentions Serpico. I'm so relieved you brought this up. Mikeyboy is a lot more likable than Serpico, so I don't mind losing to him.

Ouch, sarcasm is very hurtful young lady.
Actually, that is a great idea Fucktwat for E.P. That would be radio gold.
I just don't know what a fan could see in Earl, not off the show, but on the show, adding to the show. Enlighten me, if you have the time.

To justify a tone that condescending, I hope you're at least 40.

I'm not trying to pretend he's in Ron's league. I don't even share that many of Earl's views. I just happen to like him in general and I don't find anything particularly objectionable about him. I don't think he really does anything to deserve most of the constant litany of abuse that he tends to attract. I'm not saying that all the criticisms people have of Earl are invalid. I just think that more than others on the show, people seem to hate him for no apparent concrete reason, just for the sake of having someone to hate. There are other people, past and present, who have probably done the same or worse than him and taken less flack.

Hey, I just thought of something! Maybe having a neutral-to-positive attitude toward him means I have a shot at being one of the top Earl fans!

Fair enough. Thank you for explaining your opinion on Earl. Since Mooch, Lilly, ESD, and Hicks all seem to contribute much more to the show I am of the opinion that Earl does deserve most of his abuse. Keeping in mind that half of those people work for free.
