Interesting story. Now, the news may spin this that this is a "victim of the subprime crisis", but if you dig a little deeper, I think it's more a story of mental health issues and people ignoring them rather than a powerless consumer.
I mean, are things that different on Planet Hoth?

Definitely a deeper issue. The husband didn't even know about the foreclosure. The fact that she kept the whole issue from him demonstrates she had issues with dealing with things.

I find it silly whenever a suicide is blamed on something other than the tool who offed himself. Like that salvia thing on O&A this morning, where the mother was absolutely sure that her kid killed himself because of the drug. She had obvioulsy done extensive testing with control experiments to rule out everything but the drug.

You, of anyone, should have acknowledged the damn joke.

I didn't get the joke, as I didn't pay attention to the name of the town when I skimmed the article.

She left a note for her family saying they should "take the [life] insurance money and pay for the house," O'Berg said.
Do they pay off on insurance policies if you kill yourself?

Actually it depends on the policy and state laws. They talked about it on the show recently.

Correct. Most policies don't allow offing yourself withing 2 years of initiating it, but the mental health lobby allowed for suicides after two years.

yes as stated above, after two years you can whack yourself and the policy still pays off.
i wonder tho, since the suicide note implies that she is doing it specifically for the money, whether or not the insurance company could try to void it. i have no clue, complete speculation.
i know there was a case where a woman asked a friend to kill her and the insurance company tried not to pay but the court ruled that they must pay.
