Wish me luck, I'm taking my workgroup file storage computer and am formatting it and installing W2K Advanced Server. I'd like for it to be the DNS server for the house, and also the print server. I have sucessfully upgraded my desktops and the laptop to WXP Service Pack II and will create a domain for my network-I'm just calling the network "HICKS" (our last name)

I've setup networks using W2K only.....since my wife is backing up all her shit onto a portable drive, I have time for some feedback. Is there anything weird I have to look out for when joining WinXP machines to a network? Also, my laserjet printer has a network card, should I set up a print server, or just "share" the printer on the network by hooking it up directly to the server?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

if you are going to leave the server on all the time, set it up as the print server. 1 place to manage drivers and permissions.

just make sure you update it all the time, get the newest service packs as soon as the install finishes.
