Look at the old WNEW shows (and no, I'm not being "that guy"). He was a lot more crazy and loose back then, but they were also drinking every day during the show.

dr steve is great, but you can't forget lazlo show and uninformed are both very well produced and entertaining

This merger is most likely the killer of all the Brooklyn Nights, Z-Mans, High Society, etc. With close to 3 Billion in debt, they are going to try to get as much quality programming possible for the new audience. I don't see anything like those shows happening, or even being taken seriously by the higher ups.

Do those shows get paid? I always assumed they came in on their own time for the exposure. With such a high amount of debt, it might be seen as an asset to fill some space in places....like they are doing now.

You guys are reading WAY too much into this. Opie was accurately representing WNEW. He was going back to when they first arrived in NY, and they were offered KROCK and what they actually got was WNEW. If I had to summarize WNEW in a sentence, I might flippantly say it sucked... because for about 15 hours a day it DID suck. I definitely didn't take it as a dig, and I don't think Ron and Fez did either.
