My Dad hated going to funerals and didn't want anyone going to one for him when he died. After he died, he was cremated and the remains were buried in the family plot. Anyone in the family who wanted to was free to visit the grave and do their mourning.

You have to respect the wishes of the person dying, respect their last requests. Sometimes it ends up being a lack of money being the barrier between fulfilling those wishes. That, and sometimes asshole people involved.

This caller saddens my day. I just had a cousin die of an overdose, and my aunt couldn't afford a funeral. She had him cremated, and now she totally regrets it. How the hell do ya help them deal with that?
