O&A listening thread for the week of 8/8/08

I sort of have to chuckle at O&A complaining about fans booing at one of their shows.

I love them and most of the comedians that they have on their show, and I would never boo if I was able to attend a Viris show. That being said, O&A have been cultivating their fans for years. Creating the pests, attacking anyone who rubs them the wrong way. They have been shitting on guests that don't entertain them the way they want to be entertained.

Why should they be surprised that the animals at their shows want to "impress" them but shitting on their comics ?

In reference to the replacement show they were talking about this morning, all they said about O&A's show was that it was dropped because the rating weren't there. Opie kept trying to say they were bashing him.

I know that they did plenty of shows away from the New York/Philly area last year and I don't recall any bad responses anywhere else. I think they are just looking for a way to bail out on the Virus shows.

One last thought on Bubba: who the hell would listen to that show? My feeling is that anyone who'd like that show is probably too stupid to operate a satellite radio.

Y'know, why didn't O&A bring up some of this stuff before the show on Saturday? Tell the fans that things are on shaky ground regarding the Virus Tour and there are several comedians that won't do the show and it is because the audience is always a bunch of a-holes that boo at the drop of a hat.

Sometimes it isn't good enough to only allude to this stuff beforehand; some of the fans are brain-dead douchebags that need to hear things outright and won't pick up on subtle hints. Even then it's a 50-50 shot that they won't listen.

Ultimately it's the fault of the fans, but O&A have helped to create the monster and shouldn't be entirely surprised when it bites back.

I will give them credit, last week they did mention that they were having a tough time booking comedians for this show because of the reaction a few acts got at the animation fest. But like you said the douchebags in the crowd wouldn't listen anyway.

I agree - O&A opened the show today talking about Jimmy's maple syrup oatmeal. R&F filled 45 minutes with Hosp impressions, and did an hour on Fez getting a fly in his eye. That's just what happens when you have four hours to fill.
