squat, stand, or leg lift?

Why do some dogs squat, some stand and some lift the leg when the piss? I have a girl dog that squats and a boy dog who stands, but today I saw the stereotypical "leg lift" and that got me thinking........

actually, the female dog intends to piss in a certain spot while male dogs just tend to let it loose

however some Male dogs, if intended to piss in a certain spot like a piss pad they will also squat

I work with dogs all day long. Over 300 dogs that are being trained as guide dogs, and I pretty much have been versed in their behavior. Females squat, Males stand and lift their legs to mark their territory. I have been told they do this to mark the pee as high as possible. Kind of like a fuck you to the dog that pee 4 inches high on a tree, and your dog is trying to pee 5 1/2 inches higher. The higher you can pee the more territory you have.

the guy dog im watching right now lifts his leg but he always has some pee in his wenis...he rubbs it on u and the pee gets on your clothes...its gross...its doesnt even taste good either

Newman (the boy) usually lifts a leg ... unless he's trying to dominate the area that Ruby (the girl) just peed on. Then he squats over it like a bitch to get good cover. He sacrifices image to bust balls - which I respect.

Boss is on to something. The higher they piss, the easier it is for other dogs to smell and know that it is another dogs turf.

What I don't get is they claim turf, but not one fucking dog respects each others turf. They keep trying to reclaim. Its a never ending gang war.

I have 2 male dogs, one starts out just peeing then halfway thru decides to lift his leg, he will also walk forward and change legs if it is a really huge piss. The other one squats AND lifts his leg, which is funny to watch.
